THE RICH MAN'S WIFE ?

Episode 1

Susan had been happily married to Femi for over 5 years and they had two beautiful children, a boy and a girl. Femi was a very hardworking business man who always listened to his wife's advice. Apart from being a wise wife, Susan was also a good woman, almost every week Susan would fast and pray for her husband's success. Susan barely prays for herself, all her prayers were centered on her family, mostly she prayed for her husband.

Susan wanted her husband to be successful and no wonder she always dishes out good ideas and advice to her husband. Susan loved her husband so much, Femi was her first and last love and she could happily lay down her life for him.

Over few months, Susan had tried to talk her husband into venturing into other profitable deals that will make his business flourish but Femi had always declined.

"I Don't have enough money to run such deals and what if the deal fails? My business will go into bankruptcy" Femi had told His wife Susan but still she insisted that he should try it out.

"My love, I can't decieve you, if you had noticed, all the investment, I approved are always profitable and this time will not be different, trust me" Susan had added

Susan was her husband's personal financial advisor, every business investment Femi made, he would first discuss it with his wife and she would always give out good advice and sensible opinions about it and her advice always turn out to be a good one as Femi always saw progress in those investments Susan approved that he can invest on.

The bad business investments Femi have made and saw loses on are the ones Susan had advised him not to invest on but he failed to listen and went ahead to invest in them, then from those mistakes Femi had learnt to always listen to his wife on the business investments she approves and declines.

Femi decided to take his wife's advice and went ahead with the business deal and to his utmost surprise, he made it big. He became extremely Rich. Susan definitely has Femi's best interest at heart and Susan thought Femi appreciated her. When the business deal was successful, Susan was the happiest woman on the planet, she danced for Joy. Femi praised her for her intelligence and wonderful ideas and she blushed.

Everything was going great, Susan and Femi were living thier lives until Femi's parents suddenly got divorced. Femi's whole sense of marriage and love died as his beloved mother was the guilty one, she left Femi's father heart broken and she had flew to Europe with her lover with half of his father's wealth. Femi was emotionally drained as he never believed that his mother could do all that to his father. And that was how Femi began to take out his anger and disappointment on his wife Susan.

"Women are dangerous, if my mother could do all that to my father after 35 years of marriage, then all women are not to be trusted, not even my wife" Femi had told himself.

As time went by, Femi made sure Susan had no access to his wealth anymore, he stopped giving her money and the worst he stopped involving Susan in his business deals. Susan was shattered but she love her husband so much, that his money meant nothing to her.
Femi only provided the basic needs of the house like food and the children's school fees but he stopped giving out his money to his wife and he stopped asking for her opinion or advice. In no time, Susan began to lack maintenance, her hair was always unkempt and her clothes were worn out but still Susan doesn't mind, as long as Femi was in her life as her husband, nothing else matters.

Soon everyone noticed that Susan was not looking good as she used to, gradually she became the talk of the Town and some concluded that she was just being simple.

Susan was constantly in lack as her husband had stopped giving her money to take care of her own needs. Susan decided to start her own business, so she could be getting little money to take care of her personal needs and send money to her parents as Femi had also stopped sending money to her aged parents.

She visited her best friend Anna with the hope she could lend her the capital needed for the business. Susan doesn't mind starting small and she had already mapped out the kind of business she will go into but she got the biggest insult of her life instead.

"How can a RICH MAN'S WIFE be as miserable as you are? Susan you are always begging me for money, when my husband is not as wealthy as yours, where do you want me to get 50 thousand naira from? Susan I don't have any money for you, go and meet your husband, he has money, and moreover, what kind of business will you do with 50 thousand? Your husband is a rich man, tell him to set you up with a big business and stop coming to me for any financial help, please, I have my own problems too" Anna, Susan's Friend said bluntly and Susan was so embarrassed and ashamed.

She quietly left her friend's house and she walked back home as she couldn't even afford a cab. All through her walk home, she was in a deep thought, she wondered why her husband Femi stopped assisting her and her family financially.

"My husband knew that I'm the only child of my parents, why will he do this to them? He was the one who stopped me from taking a Job after our wedding and he promised to take care of my parents but now anytime I ask Femi to give me some money, he always tells me that he doesn't have, when I know he worth over 30 million, and if I persist he will tell me that I'm so money conscious and that I want to ruin him, what have I done to him? Why is he treating me like this? This is so unfair. My friend Anna, who had been lending me money since two years now, has also decided to stop assisting me? How will I cope? I think this is the perfect time to look for a job, I'm a graduate after all, I studied business administration and I know how my parents suffered to see me through the University, I refuse to be a liability and a beggar, when I know I could make my own money" Susan told herself.
