My mum was very helpful as she abandoned her work in order to help me pursue my Imsu dream, and it really wasn't easy visiting old family friends, neighbours, relatives and even unknown people as we seeked for help. But then my poor result was the only hinderance which made many of them shake their head as they stared at me,
"supposing your son managed to reach 160 i could have been able to do something" was the reply we got from most people, while the greedy ones just licked their lips as they smiled,
"i can secure a spot for your son but it will cost #100,000" they had said, but then my mum wasn't a fool and she could easily read some people like a book, and so all we did was just to avoid those people, cos the money wasn't refundable and given at the giver's risk...............
Emeka equally returned to fight for his admission, and it really wasn't easy for him, though he kept mostly to himself, which i really didn't know why......
I still continued staying at home, which i really never liked, but then i had to obey in order to get what i wanted from my parents, and for my dad, even though he didn't openly support what my mum was doing, he just kept quiet and let us be, cos for him i should be left to fender for myself even i'm their only child.............
First admission list{merit list}, followed closely by second list were soon released and my name wasn't in any of them, even though i wasn't really expecting my name to be in them, cos we were yet to meet the right person who would help..............
Due to my problem i was unable to call Jessica on phone regularly, cos i was very worried especially when the two lists were released without my name in any of them, closely followed by rumours of a fixed matriculation date, which really got me on edge, cos i knew no university offers admission after matriculation.........
I equally started avoiding her phone call, cos i knew not the lie to tell her again, moreover she was already getting more suspicious and curious, and so the best thing for me to do was just to ignore her.........
Time was running out fast which i knew, and for the first time i stayed for a whole month without having sex, even though Happiness do come once in a while when my parents weren't around to keep me company, but then i really didn't think that any guy would think of sex when his boat is sinking and his future drowning.........
Emeka for a reason i really don't know, finally distanced himself from me and even stopped answering my phone calls, as he went after his own admission *runz* on his own, while i relied on my mum, who was even insulted by some stupid lecturers, for disturbing them with a poor result which didn't reach the official cut off mark,
"madam go home and buy another Jamb form for your son, nobody will offer him admission in this school" the polite ones had said to her, and it even appeared as if my dad equally got tired of keeping quiet, and one day he barked at me,
"what are you still doing in this house eeh?, won't you go and look for something to do, stop finishing my food o!" he shouted with a red eye, one early morning on me, while i stared at him with a weeping heart, cos i didn't do anything to warrant his anger that morning,
or was it because of my poor result?
Hmmmm it was very terrible that period, and it was only my mum who never gave up on me..........
2006 matriculation date was soon fixed, after the 3rd list was released, and my name was yet to appear as an admitted student...........
But it was just my mum's love that kept me going...........
Remembering what she passed through for my sake, always makes me to shed tears, because during that period, as early as 6:30am she was already in Imsu with an empty stomach running around for me..........
To be continued.........
