Tears of a young maid episode 2

? TEARS OF A YOUNG MAID ?

EPISODE 2

My Aunty's son was inside snoring while I was sweeping the spacious compound with tears rolling down my cheeks.

My left cheek was red and swollen.The slap left some marks on it.

As I was sweeping,many thoughts ran through my mind. The thoughts made more tears to flow down my cheeks.

"Had it been my mom was alive,will I be wallowing in this misery?will I be maltreated like a slave? when will this misery cease? well,a danger foreseen is half avoided. "I said all this with a face like a wet week-end.

After mulling out these touchy things,I swept the compound quick as a dog can lick a dish and moved to the kitchen for dishwashing and washing of other utensils.

The dishes were very dirty and squalid. It's fetid odour was nauseating. I washed them hastily as I couldn't bear the stenchy smell of the uncleaned dishes.

I checked the time at the clock in the kitchen and it had clocked 5am. I knew that some of my mates were still sleeping but I consoled myself knowing fully well that all good things comes to those who wait.

"After all these sufferings from birth,at last,if I no make am, make I bend" I muttered like a real eager beaver.

Instantly,I heard someone yelling my name insistently at the sitting room. I listened to the voice carefully and it was my Aunty calling.

I ran off to the sitting room at one fell swoop. I broke out in cold sweat as I didn't know what I had committed this time because the way she yelled my name was deafening.

"Mezuo! I want you to make a sumptuous Egusi soup and pounded yam for breakfast" My Aunty uttered and continued pressing her phone.

I was like a cat on bricks when she said this. I haven't cooked anything before neither have I pounded a yam.

"Aunty, breakfast supposed to be something light and also I don't know how to cook" I said with bundle of nerves in my stomach.

My Aunty stood up instantaneously and gave me a resounding slap which made me to fell down to the earth and started bleeding through my nose.

Alice did not care,she dragged me to my feet and pushed me to the kitchen to make her breakfast.

While all these was happening,her husband and son were still asleep snoring as though they were earthly in heaven.

I pilled the yam rapidly, boiled it and started pounding while the soup was on fire.

I added all the ingredients before adding meat and fish. Blood was still gushing out from my nose pensively.

After pounding,I checked the cupboard in the kitchen and I saw Samovita and poundo potato.

My blood ran cold and I looked up to the roof thoughtlessly. "Indeed we humans are wícked,as you sow,so shall you reap" I uttered with my eyes on the roof.

When I finished cooking,I tasted the food I cooked and I nearly vomited.

I added more quantity of salt to sweeten the soup.

I served my Aunty the food immediately it clocked 6am. I didn't taste it again as I was fully sure that the salt sweetened it.

Alice,my aunty and her husband tasted the food and wanted to puke out some food contents.
"jesus" they shouted as she poured me the hot soup.

I was locked inside my room by Alice and she promised to flog me with whip when she comes back.

My heart sank into my belly as I kept shouting for help but unfortunately no one came
