I DIDN'T KNOW SOME NURSES ARE EVIL?(Episode 1 and 2 combined)
Last week,I was employed in a hospital in our area as a cleaner.
I have been working tirelessly so as to impress the doctor and nurses in the hospital.
So Yesterday,a man came to the hospital and said that he was looking for Nurse Elizabeth.
"Nurse Elizabeth, one of the three nurses that works in the hospital".
I ushered the man to her office and Nurse Elizabeth ordered that I should get him some drinks.
Please don't bother yourself,we have not come to drink. Business first,"the man replied as though he wanted to eat me alive"
Nurse Eliza told me not to pester about the drinks and me to shut the door as I evaded her office.
"Business"? I asked myself."Interesting,so the hospital is now a business centre.
I listened closely and I heard when the man said:
"We need more this weekend,I don't know if you can supply up to our demand"
"Why not,how many do you need? Nurse Eliza asked,
Fifteen or more "the man replied"
I was lost and seemed not to catch their subject. The door opened and they left.
What could that be,"I asked in a bewildered state.
Today, nurse Eliza brought a big cooler filled with porridge yam and shared to the patients and workers.
After the successful consumption of the delicious porridge yam,she asked me to help her wash the cooler.I did that with great joy, suddenly a thought came to my mind and I regretted why I ate the porridge yam.
I finished washing the cooler and took it to her.
Then I noticed I was restricted from entering her office.
Suspicious became intensively high as I watched closely.
At the close of work today, she called me into her office and asked me to take the same cooler to her car. I lifted the cooler with the knowledge that it will be empty but behold it was heavier than full load of porridge yam.
"It's heavy.....what is inside?" I asked
"Ask no questions Mezuo, just do as instructed.
"Take it to my car and make sure you don't open it,do you understand?"
"Yes nurse"I answered modestly and carried it on my head.
On getting to her car,my mind told me to open the heavy cooler.
I followed my mind and opened the cooler instantly and behold my eyes couldn't explain what I saw.
I saw fifteen new born babies parked haphazardly in the cooler and they were all dead because the cooler restricted them from breathing.
I started having heebie-jeebies and I cried heartily.
I knew Nurse Eliza told the mothers of those babies that their babies died after their birth.
Pity welled up my heart and I felt for the mothers of those babies who have suffered for the past nine months.
I dropped the cooler in the car and I eluded the hospital hurriedly.
I've been depressed and verily,I'm in a moment of grief.
Episode 2
When I got home, what Nurse Eliza did wouldn't stop hurting me, I was really saddened by the kind of stone heart Nurse Eliza have.
Each time I want to sleep, I'll hear the cries of those innocent babies. I wore my headphone but still their cries was really deafening.
After having nightmares through out the night,I went back to the hospital Early hours of today.
Nurse Olivia and the doctor was on duties.
I started mobbing hastily as I overheard a patient who just gave birth to a baby girl crying uncontrollably with her face buried in her hands.
Nurse Olivia was sympathizing with the woman.
I can't see my husband bring another lady in my home "the patient yelled ruefully"
Madam crying won't solve your problem,I can help you if you stop crying' "Nurse Olivia ranted"
I went closer to the door to hear how she will be of help to the patient.
'Can you afford a million naira?'"Nurse Olivia asked the patient"
'Yes Nurse I can pay anything' "The patient replied"
'Okay this is the plan, two pregnant women were brought to the hospital this morning. Probably one of them might give birth to a male child and I'll exchange the child with yours. Do you understand "Nurse Olivia muttered bluntly"
"Yes Nurse" "the patient replied'
"A million is the amount, deal?" "Nurse Olivia mumbled"
The patient replied "deal"
I was really in shock, flummoxed and disheartened.
