Ifeanyi led her to a seat outside and they sat down
"uhm.. It will be bad if I don't tell you this because we've been close for a while now. I haven't told you because, it started months ago and I wanted to be sure of myself and everything around me before I let you know"She paused and looked at him.
Ifeanyi urged her to go on.
"Take"She stretched her hand towards him giving him an envelope.
"What is that?"He asked curiously as he collected it.
"it's an invitation to my wedding.."She said
Ifeanyi looked at her in amazement and quickly brought out the I.V "Lydia WEDS Nonso" stared at him.
He hugged her passionately "My God! I can't believe this.. You're getting married? But how?"He said
"uhmm.. Nonso and I have been childhood friends a long time ago before he travelled out of the country. He came back recently and located me..and the rest is history"She laughed
"I'm so happy for you my dear"
"Thank you. He has made real money and promised to take care of my education from henceforth. Matter-of-fact, he paid my WAEC and JAMB fees.. I rounded off my exams last week and he wants us to quickly do the wedding so he'd take me with him to the U.K where he resides"
"So you mean you'd be living in U.K after your wedding?"Ifeanyi asked bewildered
Lydia nodded
"I'll miss you greatly Lydia. All your help, advice, everything.. I'll miss you"
She smiled "Me too.. You acted like the big brother I never had.. Thank you so much for all your help"
"Come here jor"He hugged her as tears dropped from his eyes.
He was genuinely happy for her.
The girl has suffered too much.. Hawking sachet water from one corner to the other.
Not eating well.
Starving herself to save for her Exams.
An orphan with no helper!
God has indeed smiled on her.
He finally disentangled himself from the long hug.
"I hope you'll attend?"She asked
"Why not? Haaa ina ajuzi aju? (are you asking?)"
She laughed and bid him farewell.
++++++++++++++++
It was Lydia's Traditional marriage. Ifeanyi left the shop in the hands of his sales girls and prepared for the Marriage.
"Are you sure you're not the groom?"Ifeoma teased
She had been around for close to two weeks now while Jonathan went back to Enugu to continue his job. She was preparing for her traditional marriage as Vero had finally agreed.
"Hapukwam o (Leave me alone o)" He laughed before Leaving for the venue of the occasion.
He couldn't see Lydia before the commencement of the program.
He was so shocked when he saw Felix seated in the canopy meant for the groom and his people. Could it be that Felix was related to Nonso, Lydia's would-be husband?
He kept calm.
It was now time for the bride to come out and show the crowd who her husband is.
Music started and Lydia danced gracefully outside. She was looking so beautiful with her attire and makeup.
But something was wrong! Kamsi was right behind Lydia ancoring as the Chief bride's maid!
Ifeanyi shifted uncomfortably on his seat. He wasn't understanding anything anymore.
Lydia danced towards Felix, knelt down, drank a little from the palm wine in her hands and gave to Felix indicating that indeed, that was her husband.
The crowd clapped and cheered.
Ifeanyi by now was totally confused.
The bride, the groom and others went to the stage dancing happily.
Ifeanyi moved out of the Canopy and started walking away. He didnt understand any of what just happened.
"Wait..!!"A voice said from behind.
He stopped and turned back.
Behold, it was Kamsi..
"I've missed you so much"She hugged him tightly
Ifeanyi quickly disengaged from her
"What is happening? I don't understand.."
"I know.. And that's why I'm here to explain."
Ifeanyi looked at her saying nothing.
"I don't love Felix. I never did. I turned him off from day one.. After we had issues because of what your mum did to my mum, I was mad and angry with you. Lydia found me the next day and told me how you were feeling bad and all that.. She begged me to come back to you because you were going to hurt yourself.. But I became angry with her for interfering into our issue and blasted her. In the process of quarrelling, Felix came along and that was when they discovered they knew each other and had been long time friends.. Well, to cut the long story short, they bonded.."
"So Felix is Nonso?"Ifeanyi asked shocked at the revelation
Kamsi nodded
"So why didn't you come back to me? Why the attitude? I even met Felix at your compound and he put up an attitude.. Why?"Ifeanyi asked curiously
"You see.. I and Lydia became friends after everything. She advised me to give you space to grow yourself. She said our togetherness has softened the Man in you which wasn't good so staying away from you for sometime would make you stand by yourself and she was right! You've excelled so much within this short period that I stayed away. I mean the business has stood firm! I'm so proud of you Ify m"She hugged him again.
Ifeanyi couldn't believe this. He stood transfixed. So it was all a game? To make him build himself without the help of anyone?
in truth, Kamsi was his weakness but when she left, Lydia had told him to grow himself positively which he did. Wow!
"So?"He asked
"I love you and I'm never leaving you anymore.."She stretched her legs to be able to meet him height before planting a kiss on his lips. Ifeanyi held her firmly and ravaged her lips hungrily! He had fucking missed her!
"Maybe you two should go and get a hotel room oo"A passerby said and this brought them back to earth.
"Let's go and enjoy the party"Kamsi said
"No.. Let's go to my place. I've missed you Uto'm"He said holding her waist..
"I'm the Chief Bride's maid remember?"
Ifeanyi shrugged in resignation "OK.. After the party, straight to my house?"
