Ben was infuriated because I disobeyed his orders and I did not care if he was ang.ry as I knew that what I did was right.
He always say that women has nothing to offer that they are made for the kitchen.
I would often reply belligerently and we'd start to argue.
My father had no such mentality. He made sure he trained me in higher institution before he answered the call of nature.
Although,my mother gave birth to only me,he did not marry another wife and luckily,he had no brother.
My child was already a year old and needed to enroll in a school. I was bankrupted and had no money to register her in a school near our estate – Ben had swore that he would never train her.
I had no paid Job because he instructed that I should stop work immediately he put me in a family coolval stories way.
I knew my boss had put someone to occupy the space since I left and going back there again was a harebrained idea.
My close friends whom I begged to lend me some money all repudiated with their clock and bull stories.
"What will I do now?" I asked myself as I breathed out heavily.
I was pondering deeply when I came outside and saw Ben's Old car. He stopped driving it when he bought the new one– it wasn't faulty though.
"Yes,This is the answer to my insolvency" I said and smiled broadly.
The neighbor in the other flat recommended an affluent man that bought the car – I sold it for five hundred thousand naira.
Instantly,I went to the boutique and purchased some new clothes for my child whose clothes were all torn and worn out.
I also bought fancy shoes and slippers for her.
After I came back from the boutique,I went to the school and registered her.
The school was so big and had a spacious compound with a large football pitch.
One of my friends were teaching there and she was the one who accompanied me to the headmaster's office.
The headmaster was very kind and good to converse with–He wasn't acerbic.
He gave me full assurance that the teachers will take care of my child properly....
I left the school smirking confidently because I had achieved my aim. "My child must be educated" I said in my mind.
Getting to the house,I saw Ben sitting at the long sofa. I was caught unawares "Honey, why are you at home by this time? What happened?" I queried.
"I came to take the documents I forgot" he replied.
"Okay darling, you have to go back immediately,I am going to cook your favorite for dinner" I said as I touched his lips.
"Okay Obi m,I will come back early today" He said and sniggered.
"Wait! Where is my other car? I couldn't see it outside" Ben asked as he was about to exit.
"Oh! that car, I've sold it" I replied.
"You sold what?" Ben said loudly.
"The car,you know Favour's clothes are all tattered and she needs to enroll in a school " I responded.
"You mean you sold my car because of your daughter? Okay no problems" Ben said as he departed.
I chuckled as I thought my husband was not an.gry about it. Forthwith,I went back to the kitchen and continued cooking.
Some minutes later,my husband entered abruptly with a whip in his hand. I was still in the kitchen when he called me to come.
I was kinda surprised and I pondered out if my husband got me some gifts.
Immediately I ran out,my husband started hítting me with the braided rope.
"What did I do" I roared painfully.
He did not listen as he kept flógging me like a sheep. I felt much pain when he battered the whip to my left eye and my waist.
"Ewoooo" I screamed when my child who was crawling fell down from the sofa hi.tting her head on the floor–she was asleep when the whole thing started.
She got up and started crying when she was looking at how Ben was thrashing me with the whip.
