"This pregnancy will worsen the situation between me and my husband." Whined Marjory.
Selina frowned confusedly."What do you mean?"
Marjory hesitated.Selina urged her to trust and confide in her.
"Mwewa will not accept this child." She opened up.
"Why?" Asked Selina.
Then Marjory told Selina about the argument she'd earlier had with her husband.
"Did you sleep with his friend though?" Asked Selina, anyway.Though she believed her friend could never cheat on her husband.
"You know I can never cheat on my husband." Said Marjory. "Daniel told my husband that I willingly slept with him which is a lie of course. He just lied to hurt my husband or just to ruin my marriage because he is frustrated that he never got what he wanted from me.But what am not sure of is what really happened at his place after he drugged me..."
"Baby nothing happened.Your medical reports state that there was no ra.pe." Selina tried to comfort.
"I know but...what if Daniel took advantage of me after the drugging...what if I acted under the influence of the drug and let him..."
"Look,"Interjected Selina."This pregnancy will not go well with stress.Stop assuming and try to talk with your husband.Atleast hear from him first."
"You think so?"
"It's the only way! What else do you want to do?"
Marjory was silent.Selina noticed her worries."Come here." She pulled Marjory and hugged her."This too can be solved like any other problem on earth.Everything is going to be alright."
_____
It has been two weeks he last saw his wife after that argument. Some past days Mwewa would try to call Marjory so he could try and work things out but he would be turned down.Marjory had made herself clear that she needed space. But how long this was going to take was exactly how long it would take Mwewa to heal from this foggy lifestyle he was gradually taking.
Mwewa now had no friend.Nobody around him after work.He would be all alone.Had it been those days,he would have been by The Junction having some fun with Daniel. And,since his wife was in school,he would take Mwaka home for a pleasurable night. But now he had vowed never to allow himself get any close to the girl that had cost him his marriage on rocks.
Mwewa had now resorted to drinking each evening after work. There wasn't much to do at work nowadays as the company was making preparations in readiness to hand over SD Rides to its buyer whom Mr Binwell Tembo had already announced a few days ago.
So One evening Mwewa came back home knowing it would be Saturday the next day_a nonworking day.And home was boring these days. This sent him down the road by The Junction to just have some drinks and cheer up with some pool table players. He played pool table for hours until he couldn't hold the stick to hit the balls properly. He then opted out with a beer bottle in his hand, almost loosing his stance.
He was in a full parking lot trying to find his car when he spotted Collins,Mr Binwell Tembo's driver, holding up a lady.He didn't see the lady clearly as she was facing down powerlessly. For a moment Mwewa lost Collins who was now grippingly holding the lady round her waist and leading her to Mr Binwell Tembo's car.
"What...the hell..." Mwewa stammered. He searched around and found Collins by Mr Binwell Tembo's car.By the moment he reached there,Collins had already thrown the heavily drunk lady into the backseats. She laid in the seats and slept.
"What is this you are doing?" Asked Mwewa.
Collins turned and saw Mr Binwell Tembo's son_in law but he didn't fuss.He just turned away and said rudely,"what?"
" I just saw you with a lady!Where is she?You came hooking in my father's reputable car?" Asked Mwewa.
"Which lady?" Collins tried to deny.
"Ok forget about your wh.or.es.But you are not supposed to be coming to bars with this car!"
"How is it your business?" Collins acted rude to try and escape the embarrassment of being roasted beacause he was a mere driver!
"You stupid!Give me the keys!" Said Mwewa.
"Go away! You not my boss.Mr Binwell Tembo is!" Said Collins.
"Are you talking to me like that?" Mwewa pulled Collins by his colors."Give me the keys now!Am calling father right now you are fired!"
"You can't fire me!" Said Collins."Who are you?I started working for Mr Binwell Tembo long enough before you knew him!"
"Give me the keys!" Mwewa insisted and threatened to hit Collins with a beer bottle. The fact was that he could never have pestered around if he was in his right state of mind, but now Mwewa was drunk and frustrated! He could pick any unnecessary fight right now.
A small crowd that had formed to watch persisted that Collins had to let his boss have the keys.Though Collins repeatedly denied that Mwewa coolval stories was not his boss. But he finally and angrily gave up and let Mwewa have the keys. Then Collins walked out with a phone pinned to his ear.Who was he calling?
Mwewa entered the driver's seat scolding,"what nonsense! You even have the guts! My father in law is lying home bed ridden and you have the guts to come hooking with his executive machine! I.di.ot!"
So Mwewa thought to drive and park his father in law's vehicle in his garage. He asked some guy he knew around The Junction to help him drive his own car behind him.
_____
In the morning,Mwewa woke up in Mr Binwell Tembo's car in the house garage to a phone call.He had slept in here since last night at The Junction.
It was Marjory calling!Yes Marjory had just called this early morning and she was outside the gate to this yard.
Mwewa jolted up and picked the call.He was both surprised and excited that Marjory had finally called him.He had been longing for a talk with his wife after that argument.
"Okay honey.Am coming to open the gate." Mwewa said and tried to hop out of the car.But he heard a voice groan from the backseat.
"Collins?" The voice called out.
Mwewa tilted his head and found Mwaka in the backseats.
"What the...you!" Mwewa got astonished."What are you doing in here,I mean how did you.."
Mwewa was interrupted by a bang on the gate by Marjory.
"How did I end up with you?" Mwaka got astonished too.
"Shut up.My wife is coming in from the gate." Said Mwewa." Am going to lock you up in this garage until my wife leaves.Don't make any sounds or I will give you a beating of your life!"
"Beat me?Why?"
"I said you keep quite! My wife shouldn't know you are here!...Gosh! I don't even know how I got you in here you..." He later remembered that he had seen Collins taking a lady towards this car.So he put the lady in the car and it was Mwaka!
The bang repeated and Mwewa was now pulling down the Roll-up garage doors to lock Mwaka up.He later rushed to open the gate.
Marjory entered and rolled her eyes suspiciously in all directions of the compound.
"Honey..you came?" Mwewa stammered.
Marjory proceeded her way towards the house quetly. When she entered the house, she went direct into the bedroom and began to search.
"Honey...what are you looking for?" Mwewa confusedly asked.
"You brought in a woman in this house last night.Where is she?" Asked Marjory.
"A woman?In?(me)Who told you?'
"Mwewa you came in with a woman don't deny it!"
"Okay then search the whole house!Search Everywhere! Why is this happening to us!Who is trying to break us apart?" Mwewa screamed out and he really meant what he lamented.
Marjory looked in his eyes and saw no pretense in them.Yet she went ahead and searched every room while Mwewa waited in a sofa, praying that she did not think of the garage! And Marjory did not think of the garage. When she tried to cross the living room where mwewa was,He pulled her and held her hands.
"Honey," he started."I really think we need to pray to God to protect our marriage.I don't want us on rocks.I have realized how it would be like without the woman I so much love.It is hell without you Marjory.I don't want to our marriage ruined by distrust.I promise never to make you feel distrusted again.I don't care what Daniel said about you.All I want is my woman back.My wife.My family.I don't want to loose you. Please!"
Then he went down on his knees."Please....I should be the one to be distrusted here for what I did.I cheated on my beloved wife...I am truly sorry and...I...I ...I promise you I will never cheat on you again!Never! Please forgive me my love."
"Somebody called me and told me you came in with a woman in Father's car last night!Where is the car!" Marjory still asked.
