[b]One major way by which we can have a continuous renewal of relationship with God is thru' prayer. Prayer is man's communion with his creator without a priest in-between, except Jesus Christ. It is the staff of christians to walk with God. Prayer is the soul's sincere desire,unuttered or expressed, the motion of a hidden fire that trembles in the breast. And when we pray, we should have faith in our prayer, not doubting, for a doubting mind receives nothing. Jesus says, "And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive if you have faith"(matt. 21:22).
"Do not fear, only beleive"(mark 5:36); Did I not tell you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God, John 11;40.
There are 3 types of prayers:
1. Thanksgiving
2. Intercessory
3. Request
and our prayers should be in this other.
Thanksgiving: we should first and foremost beging our prayers always with thanks to God for His mercy, grace, and all the good things of life He provides for us. "It is sharper than a serpent's tooth to have a thankless child".
Intercessory: when praying we should remember our fellowmen in prayer whether they be individuals or a group.
We should intercede on their behalf, wishing them success in their various endeavours and asking God to heal them of their infirmities and forgive their sins.
Request: in our humble request we should first ask for the forgiveness of our sins, followed by requests for our needs. These are the types of prayers God answers.[/b]
