Episode 2 . . . Tears rolled from my step father’s eyes i was thoughtless. ‘Please forgive me and please don't mention to any one my rape attempt please’ My step father pleaded, ‘is like you are back to your senses’, I almost said. I never wanted to forgive him my plan was to tell my mum about his attempt and therefore he’ll be thrown out of the house Mr. Iyke is a jobless Man all he do is to watch football and order for food I wonder what my mom saw in him is like he charmed my mom who knows. Since my Pastor’s favorite topic was about forgiveness i didn't know how my lips forced itself to say ‘I’ve forgiven you already’. Ever since the event took place he shouts at me in my Mum’s presence but teased me at her back. Am just a young girl of 16 years am in ss3 in ‘Crowter High College Ikeja’ i was well known as ‘sister mary’ in school i barely talk to people in school, i have no friend right from my jss1 in Crowter High College, i was seriously engaged with my studies, and church services was what I’ve never missed. it was friday morning when my mom announced dat she’ll be traveling to the village over the weekend for her friend’s wedding. I helped her packed her cloth and folded it neatly into her small bag pack. and I escorted her to the motor park and waved her off. I went home there after to meet my step father watching football before NEPA or PHCN or whatever they are called them seized power. At around 6pm that friday my step father disappeared into the dust surely he’ll be at Madam Ngozi’s bar. Later the light was restored and thereafter i watched Emmanuel Tv until i dozed off. I woke up in the night at about 10pm the heat was too strong for me to hold since NEPA were so frequent in seizing electricity when its needed most I decided to have some shower. ‘at this time my step father is not yet back home’ I said while i looked at the time and i sighed and went straight to the bathroom… . . . Episode 3 On reaching the bathroom I pulled off the gown I was wearing most of my teen church members commented on the gown as an ancient gown which I never cared about it. I took few steps to the shower and I laid my hands on the handle and started the shower few minutes later I heard some one knocking the door ‘who is that?’ I reluctantly asked ‘its me Ann. come on open the door’ ‘ehen my step father don come with him wahala’ I said to my self in pidgin english. I quickly wrapped my self up with a towel that could barely cover my laps and made my way for the door I opened the door and the first thing I saw was a bottle of ‘gulder’ that was held firm in my step father’s hand and I scrolled up to his face with my eyes he was heavily drunk. He entered the house and I was locking the door while he bounced his buttocks on the couch. After locking the door I turned around and the towel that was wrapped from my chest to my laps fell from my body and landed to the floor and I was completely unclad in front of my step father the first thought that flashed trough my memory was his first sexual attempt that failed and now me being unclad in his presence was like I was calling him to my body. I quickly reached out for the towel and picked it. Episode 4 . . . I began to shiver before I could think of anything my step father pushed me to the floor and my head hit the hard concrete floor that was covered with a rug causing me a lot of pain my head began to pound as if my brain will fall off. He pulled of the trouser he was wearing and inserted something into my pubic region and I shouted with the last energy I had but his hands quickly covered my mouth to prevent any sound that will attract the attention of the neighbours. He was gasping while he kept on inserting and removing, at some point off time it was like my vågina was set ablaze and my vision became blurred, my eyes closed gently. My Mum was always busy with work and she don’t have the time to sit me and rub minds on mother to daughter discussion she didn't care to know the type of man he left me with. one issue that has been disturbing my mind is who my biological father was in the locality where I grew up some people used to say my mum is a prostitute and she don't even know my real father this issue was a big problem to me while growing up and anytime I asked my mum all she says was ‘you’ll know him one day’. I took some pain relieving tablets and I was alone trough out the weekend ever since my step father disappeared, that weekend and school mid-term break has been the most horrific break i ever embarked on. Since then I was lost in school as I just overhear the lectures of the teachers I hardly go to church ever since then all the faith I had disappeared since Jesus didn't saved me from being raped. After a while my step father returned back home with the excuse of him going to the village for his mother’s funeral services. My mom didn't notice any changes in me neither my strange attitude towards my step father. three weeks later in school I was sleeping in class which was strange and I felt horrible with slight headache and my tummy revolving, the Health science teacher (Mrs Busayo) was the teacher in class she is a very cruel woman and she sees faults on students before any other teacher she was called ‘The goddess’ by students. . . . Episode 6 . . . . . Hey Ann why are you sleeping in my class?’ Mrs busayo asked while she wrapped her hands on my shoulders mildly. ‘ma I'm uhm’ I tried to explain but it failed suddenly I covered my mouth and ran out of the class to the school toilet and I vomited on the bathtub then after I washed my mouth and I made my way back to the class with pains all over my joints. ‘Ann are you okay?’ Mrs Busayo questioned my arrival back to the class ‘Yes Ma its just a slight fever’ I replied her. ‘See me after this class’ Mrs Busayo demanded I went to my seat and sat down relaxing my head on top of my desk and continued sleeping. The school bell ranged and I woke up meaning I’ve been sleeping while three subjects were taught because health since was the first subject followed by three other subjects before break. I left the class to Mrs Busayo’s office. ‘Good afternoon- Good morning Ma’ my voice stammered ‘Ehen Ann you’re here. Sit down’ Mrs Busayo permitted while she dropped her pen to give full attention to my presence i drew the chair that was under he table and i sat down. ‘Ann you know i was once a girl like you now tell me are you? . .’ Mrs Busayo asked while she made a sign language with her hands ‘Ma me? no oh.’ I stated out of fear ‘well give me your mother’s phone number’ Mrs Busayo ordered. I gave her the phone number and she excused me for the day. after school hours I went home and acted like everything was normal the next morning I was set to go to school when my Mom announced I’ll be going for medical check up after the announcement was made my heartbeat changed totally, at this stage I was not aware of what my Mom and Mrs. Busayo discussed on phone many thoughts passed trough my mind while boarding my Mom’s toyota camry. We arrived early at the hospital at about 7:45 am and we waited for the doctor’s arrival. The doctor arrived the hospital at about 8:15 am that morning. Series of tests were conducted on me since my mom was running late for work and me also late for school we couldn’t wait for the results of the test my Mom exchanged phone numbers with the doctor and pleaded with the doctor to send the results to her as text message when it’s ready my Mom drove off the hospital giving me money to board a taxi to school since we were not going the same way I arrived my school and the day’s activities went normal when the bell for closing was ranged sudden fear overtook me knowing my Mom was going to skin me alive when I get home. When I was at a far range to my house my heart was about falling as the beat rate of my heart increased, when it remained a foot to the gate I said to my self ‘since my Step father is behind everything no need to fear’ I smilled and opened the gate and I walked trough the compound and then to the main house i opened the door and I the first person I saw was my Mum....... . . . . Episode 7 . . . . ‘Good afternoon ma’ I greeted my mom She did not utter any word so I decided to walk towards my room. ‘hey we do you think you are going to?’ my mom disrupted my movement ‘so all this while you’ve been coming back from school late telling me you were reading were all tales abi? You are a snake, Ann you are snake’ my mom lamented with shame all over her face ‘now tell me who is the father of the baby’ my mom demanded I gazed gently at my step father that maintained mute while my mom was busy talking I pointed at him bending my face towards the floor. My mom looked at my step father trying to ask him. ‘Honey I don’t know whats she’s saying oh i’m not responsible for anything ooo’ my step father rushed his words ‘now tell me who is responsible for pregnancy’ my mom said as she turned her head to me, I insisted it was him and he kept on denying my mom stood up from the couch to where I was standing and gave me a slap on my face and she called me all sorts of names I entered my room and locked up my self. I fell to my face on top of my mattress and cried I was helpless the only thing I was thinking was committing suicide. I cried until slept off . ‘grnn , grnnn, grnnnn’ the sound of my alarm waked me then the time was 6.am I set my alarm to 6.am so I could finish my house chores on time before going to school. I stood up by this time I was stil on my school uniform I took my bag pack and left the house tiptoeing so my mom will not question me, I went to school very early that day and the main gate in our school was locked the official time for school I 8.am so I decided to stroll round the neighborhood before 8.am. at 8:15 am I arrived the school and lessons commenced not until 10.am when a junior student came to my class and told the teacher in our class that the principal instructed him to call me. I quickly jumped on my feet with my heart beating fast. ‘Why will the principal send for me’ I said to my self while walking towards the principal’s office. . . . To Be Continued…

Episode 8 . . . I finally arrived the principal’s office I stood there for a few seconds and adjusted my beret and I knocked the door before opening. The first person my eyes captured was my mom the principal ordered me to kneel down and he continued talking with my mom. Tears streamed down my eyes and rolling to my cheeks and falling to my shirt I was so carried away I didn’t pay any attention to what they were saying. ‘Ann . .’ The principal’s voice feared me and I fell down with my buttocks. ‘Who is the father of the baby you’re carrying?’ the principal asked while he moved his hands to a cane that was lying on the table. I did not utter any word the principal stood up walks towards me with his cane, I quickly stood up to my feet and I took countless steps backward until the wall grabbed my back the cane landed at my back several times and I began to scream. ‘I said who is the father of the baby?’ the principal repeatedly asked for the tenth time without a reply from me, I heard my mom’s voice saying ‘Sir beat her very well’. soon after the principal stopped and I began cry furiously. the principal stood up and went back to his seat. ‘Madam we cant keep your daughter in this school any more she must be expelled’ the principal explained to my mom ‘please sir keep her when its time for her to deliver the baby she’ll go and when the baby is strong she’ll resume’ my mom pleaded with her knees on the floor ‘Madam its against the school’s rules and regulations and again the test results here shows she is a HIV carrier she cant stay in the midst of other students’ the principal said stressing the word ‘HIV’. In hearing HIV I was shocked and I moved backwards covering my mouth and tears rushing from its store I opened the door gently without the notice of the principal. I exited the office and I saw tolu, nifemi and rose the three of them are my classmates and big time gossips I wondered how long they were there listening to the drama. ‘HIV’ Tolu said and the three of them departed laughing as they were running towards the classroom tears rushed from my eyes and I cleaned my face gently with my beret when I entered the class the whole class shouted ‘HIV’ and they all departed through the back door and some of them jumping trough the window leaving me alone in the class I could not hold it I busted into tears and I cried loud. I ran out of the class and I was crying on the road I reached the gate and the gate man quickly rushed to block the gate so I will not pass. I engaged in a struggle with the gate man and I managed to push him away and I left the school, that will be the first time I’ll leave school before closing hour in my life. . . . To Be Continued…

Episode 9 . . . I walked down the streets I did nt want to go home tears flowed gently from my eyes down to my cheeks. an SUV Jeep was passed by my right hand side and reversed back to me when I looked I saw a young man he must be in his late 20s . ‘Hey young girl hop in let me you a ride’ the young man offered. I starred at him for a few seconds and focused on my journey to no where without accepting the offer, he drove off and I continued my journey another car passed me also almost hitting me out of fear I jumped into the gutter and knee was got injured by a big stone that was in the gutter I attended to my injured knee. ‘Pls ma recharge card’ I heard the voice from a nearby shop the voice gained my attention so i quickly gazed at it. It was my mom I crawled gently out of the gutter and I stood up from the gutter about to take off with full speed, I mistakenly hit an orange seller and we fell to the floor. ‘Shey you no see road ni?’ the orange hawker shouted and crowed was formed round us every one gazed at us until the my mom appeared in front of me I quickly stood up and I started running and the crowed made a way for me to pass. ‘Abeg make una help me catch that girl na my pikin she run comot from school’ my mom anounced and countless boys chased me. I followed a near by bush and continued running until I came across an uncompleted building and hid there and the boys chasing me entered the builiding also I was hiding in a small room supposed to be a toilet I covered my mouth to reduce the intesity of my panting. ‘Abeg make we dey go we no go kill ourself on top another person pikin’ some one said from a very close range and all the boys agreed and they all dimissed the uncompleted building I brought out my rosary and did the trinity sign. night was fast approaching I searched around the builing and I found three empty sacks of cement I took them and arranged it on the floor and I lied down and slept off. the sun was hot and it woke me the first person I saw was the young man that offered me a ride the other day I jumped on to my feet. ‘Good mor-mor morning sir’ I stammered ‘Young lady dont tell me you slept here?’ the young man asked but I did nt answered my vision became blurred and the light went blank. Later, my eyes forced it self to open and I found my self in a hospital room. ‘What are my doing here’ I asked. ‘Doctor she’s awake’ a nurse anounced hapilly and a doctor walked in and examined me. . . . Episode 10 . . . ‘Sir what am I doing here and who brought me here’ I asked, the doctor was about to start explaining to me when man I turned down his offer of giving me a ride by this time his name was still unknown to me. the young man started explaining but I listened with a deaf ear. ‘Pls whats your name?’ I cut him short. ‘I’m Sam’ the young man answered. ‘pls take me out of here’ I pleaded with Mr. Sam he turned to the doctor and the doctor said I’m suitable to leave the doctor prescribed drugs for me and we vacated the hospital in his SUV Jeep. ‘Where do you live? let me take you home’ Mr. sam asked. ‘Sir please take me to your house I don't want to go home’ I pleaded with him. ‘Oh sorry i forgot whats your name?’ Mr. Sam asked. ‘My name is Ann’ I replied. and the ride continued He didn’t hesitate, he took me to his house and when we knocked a fair lady attended to us and she offered Mr. Sam a hug and turned to me. ‘Honey who is this girl?’ The lady asked ‘Oh she’s Ann she’s going trough a lot I found her in our new site and she needs to rest, Ann meet my wife Jane’ Mr Sam concluded. Just then I started thinking 'see me ooo I ran away from this man and went to sleep at his site' We entered the house and I was given a homely treat. we sat down on the couch watching a movie until NEPA seized power. 'All this NEPA sef' Mrs. jane quickly brought a topic about me I discussed with them about my present adversity what I’m facing they showed sympathy ‘I’m a lawyer and i promise i’ll stand by you. I will sue your step father to court and I’ll make sure he spends his miserable life in jail’ Mrs. jane assured and I was a little bit relieved . . . . . . . To Be Continued…

Episode 11 . . . Few days later Mrs jane took me to the hospital and the doctor conducted another test on me and confirmed I did not have HIV there after the Inspector General of Police ordered the arrest of my step father and he was detained in the police cell while the case was in court. 10th of may 2013 the day he was called to court and he was sentenced to ten years in prison for child abuse and rape. Ever since then my mom loved me the more and she helped me with exercises meant for pregnant women 6 months later I delivered a baby boy he was a replica of his father. one chill evening when my mom was asleep, I took the baby placed the baby in a basket and headed for the main road and dumped him there and I returned to the house on reaching the house was my mom. “where is your baby?” my mom asked and I began to shiver she pushed my away and went outside with a torch light and she used a cane and forced me to show her where I kept the baby I reluctantly took her to the junction where i kept the baby. “That is the baby” I stopped and pointed to the basket from a distance. My mom moved closer to the basket and she took the basket empty. “Where is the baby…?” my mom asked while she was crying helplessly and hitting me with the basket. for once I felt unhappy with my actions but I never liked the baby a neighbour helped my mom home and she blamed me for my actions. I waked up around 2 am and i want to my mom’s room to find my mom awake. “Mommy the time is 2:15 am and you’re not asleep whats it?” i asked my mom while moving to her bed and sat down. “Why will i sleep when your baby is no where to be found” my mom said with a disappointing face. . . . . [/b] [b]Early in the morning when the drizzle rain has calm down I heard a crash that waked me from my dreamless sleep I hurriedly left for the sitting room and met my mom lifeless lying on the table I grabbed my mom and tears streamed from my eyes. I looked up to the television and the breaking news stated “Lifeless Baby Found With A Motorist” I left my mom and went close to the television and the camera was on the baby definitely the baby was my baby. That was the news my mom saw and died of heart attack for the first time I felt sorry for all my deeds, a single mistake took the life of my mom and my baby. Few years later my Step father was released from the prison because there was change in government. I prepared well for his arrival he was the only family I had and all the hatred I had for him died. “Knock…. knock.. knock.” A knock banging at my door I hurriedly left the food i was stiring cause I was anxious of meeting my only relative I opened the door and my first sight was my step father he had grown beareds. “Ann Please forgive me I'm sorry” My stepfather pleaded while he fell to his knees holding the lower part of my skirt. “I’ve forgiven you already” I said to him with a smile and helping him get up to his feet. “Where is your mom and my baby?” My step father questioned. “Ooops my food is burning” I said wearing a sad face. I went to the kitchen and continued my cooking as the memories of my mom kept on reflecting to me. “What happened to them?” My step father asked standing at the door linking the kitchen and the sitting room . I left the kitchen and pushed him away and took a sit in the sitting room “Please talk to me what happened to them” my step father said and sat behind me. I narrated the whole tragedy to him and tears fell from his eyes and streaming from my own eyes too, He grabbed my arms and we cried together. Ever since then my stepfather was careing and loving he acted the role of not just a father but a mother to me and my life after then was lively. **THE END** [/b]
