The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) have called off their strike action which they started on Monday June 20th. In a statement signed by their president, Mohammed Askira, the group said the strike which they embarked on to protest the the non-payment of 10 months salaries of some of its members, was called off due to the hardship some Nigerians have faced since they started they strike.
The Federal government had on Tuesday June 21st, ordered the replacement of all resident doctors who failed to show up for work due to the strike action.
While calling off the strike, the President of the Resident doctors said they will be back to work fully on Monday June 27th. He urged the Federal government to implement the agreement it reached with the association before July 14th, assuring his colleagues that none of them would be victimised for joining the strike.
