The American couple can meet and marry in secret within a week then break the news to their parents over the phone. 
Try that in Nigeria and you will wish you had preached repentance to the devil instead. :)
For Nigerians, the train can include ladies on suit, guys on trad, male and female ring bearer, flower boy and flower girl, even ladies in wardrobe.
4. Invitation
Americans will attend events based on invites. Ours is a communal affair. Everyone, especially the uninvited ones, will attend.
5. Wedding Guests 
For us, from three big canopies to a stadium capacity is a reasonable size.
6. The Nuptial Sermon
The American nuptial sermon, if given, is timed and lasts few minutes. Ours can go on with anecdotes, jokes, advice and even threats till the minister feels it’s time to stop.
7. Cake 
Their cakes are traditionally simple and white. Ours are very extravagant, stylish and colourful.
8. Music
The typical American wedding will have a small live band. The Nigerian weddings can look like a music concert. If you can afford it, get a live band, a DJ and some musicians to perform.
For them, a three course meal with fine wine will do. 
For us, everything goes – all the colours of rice, shades of soups and forms of swallow with many assorted drinks better than bars.
10. The Marriage System
Not wearing white so as not to upstage the bride, giving gifts as expected, the toast and the best man’s speech and others are common American wedding practices. We have ours too like giving wedding souvenirs, dressing to kill, and even fighting for food and drink among others.... Which do you prefer to have???
