*******episode 2******* The car was parked and Daniel got down from the Toyota Venza. He looked at Nora and smiled as he motioned inside the plaza. He had told her to wait for him outside there, he was just wanted to get something. Still unknown to Nora, she patiently waited. She had waited for some minutes and decided to peep outside because she had been busy pinging her friends and wedding planner. Then, her peep met Alex’s stare. She couldn’t help her ecstasy but to rush to meet Alex. Both of them hugged each other firmly for seconds until Daniel came outside and met the scene. It seemed Nora’s ecstasy had made her forgotten that she would get married the next day. Daniel didn’t know Alex, but even if that was her brother, the hug shouldn’t be as firm as it was! He had thought as the package he was holding dropped down and his mouth wide open. By the time Nora would know she was doing the wrong thing, she saw Daniel’s face and froze also. Alex, looking away also saw the face of his wife-to-be that he had told to park by the entrance of Esmak Plaza and his heart skipped a beat. Daniel swooshed out a long breath as he managed hold his tears back. He walked into the car and Nora rushed into the car too. She wouldn’t leave her husband-to-be to leave angrily. Daniel, also pulling out of the Plaza indignantly now saw Gloria and marched on the brake quickly. Was he seeing a ghost? What was really happening? He parked the vehicle and rushed down. “Gloria?” He shouted as he widened his eyes and moved closer. The name made Gloria look the direction and saw him too. “Daniel!” She called as the key to her vehicle that she was holding dropped on the floor. Daniel couldn’t hold himself back, both rushed to each other also, not minding the fact that they were engaged. **** The bond of love was still there! As I saw her, I wanted to die. I thought I just saw a ghost now, if she was, I was ready to follow her! No! I still loved her so much that I couldn’t hold back myself. Maybe that was how Alex and Nora felt too. But, I still loved her. I wiped my tears continuously as I looked into her eyes. She had grown more beautiful and matured. Gloria was my life. Looking back, I saw Nora, already out of the car, looking at me. Alex had also stood akimbo, looking at Gloria and I, then I knew I was done for too. At first, I thought it was tit for tat but I felt uncomfortable. Is this how Nora is feeling presently? I asked myself as I saw Gloria also looking at Alex. Then Alex approached us and nabbed Gloria’s hand. He pushed her into the vehicle and drove away. I looked at the Hyundai car as it sped off until I was unable to see the vehicle again. I walked back to my car and looked at Nora who was probably in shock or… what should I even call this? We both entered into the vehicle and I drove off. The car just remained silent. I wasn’t pleased with what she did and she wasn’t pleased with mine. **** WEDDING DAY. …Story continues 2morrow

******episode 3******** It was a beautiful day with friends and family members at the venue to celebrate with Daniel and Nora. At first, Daniel had thought Alex would be at the solemnization ceremony to claim the ownership of Nora or Gloria would come to claim his ownership. Since the incident had happened, Daniel never called Nora to speak with her, Nora never did too. Daniel who had carried her in his car to drop her off at home didn’t speak to her at all, even when she got down from the vehicle, none of them could bid a goodbye. Daniel felt jealous that Nora could go back to hug Alex, a day to the wedding and Nora likewise, wondering if the love Daniel had for her was a true one. If it was, why would he go and New Gloria? Though none of them knew the ex of the other until that day the scene happened. Nora had felt Daniel was a bad person, why would he even if try to return back to Gloria for a hug, Daniel too never accepted the fact that he was wrong. At least, it was Nora that hugged Alex first, by the way, he couldn’t hold himself back when he sighted Gloria. None of them could put the blame on him or herself, they both thought the other counterpart was wrong. Thanks to God that the wedding was success, even though it was a very tough part when they heard you may kiss your bride. Daniel just let out a short air from his mouth as he moved his mouth closely and kissed the pretty figure before him. He also knew she was extremely beautiful that day. It was a big surprise to the two that they couldn’t interact well, even though it was their wedding day. Daniel carried Nora when it was time to take photographs, and grinned mischievously as if they were in good terms. One who could study well would know things weren’t nice between the two. None could approach the other, it was the beginning of their trouble. **** The aroma of the food from the kitchen filled his nostrills. His head went both left and right almost instantaneously as he shook off the aroma. That was jollof rice that he could smell well, he had thought as he opened his eyes at once. It really was! He affirmed. Daniel turned his head to the left side of the bed but Nora was nowhere to be found. He couldn’t remember what really happened the previous night, it seemed he just entered into the room and sprawled on the bed because he was so tired. It wasn’t easy to be a groom, especially one who was wise to play between his wife and the invited guests and family members. “Did she sleep inside this room?” Daniel had thought as he giggled. Nothing more came to his memory than he drove into the compund in his own car and Nora was driven by the driver, in her own car. That was the matrimonial room, why wouldn’t she sleep there? He took his stand slowly, walking to the other side of the Queen-Sized mattress to survey if there were shoes or jewelries on the drawer, but he was wrong, it really didn’t look as if Nora slept inside that room. He walked to the bathroom and washed his face, took up his purple brush and brushed his mouth up. He walked out and put off his clothes into casual wears, at least he had to check out the house before getting set for church service. But, it was their wedding thanksgiving, he had thought as he thudded down the bed and jacked his head down. He began to wonder why Nora never came into that room to sleep with him. Why? He continued asking himself as if there were spirits around that’d respond to him after a while. He was wrong, no spirit replied his questions. He just felt they were rhetorical questions, but, it seemed the rhetorical questions in his mind needed answers. Was she really angry because of his reactions yesterday in the wedding program? Was it because of Gloria’s issue? He couldn’t just provide an accurate answer to the puzzling questions disturbing his life that moment. He swallowed again as he whisked to his feet and pressed his lips together. He clenched his finger and walked to the front of the dressing mirror to check himself out. “Daniel, I won’t eat that food she’s preparing,” he thought as he looked at his tall and handsome self. He nodded along with his though and turned around, he had to check the compound, driver and gate keeper out before dressing up for church. He had always been warned to fast to church but had never fasted, he felt that day would mark he day of his effective change. He walked into the living room and turned his neck to view what was happening in the kitchen, she was there preparing breakfast. He cleared his throat and cloistered outside, into the compound.

******episode 4********* Nora turned the gas cooker off. She didn’t know if well or bad she was doing, but she felt she had taken the right decision. Daniel had been taciturn to her, just doing his things his way, why should she try to go on well with him too? She didn’t like how the two of them kept laughing a kind of laughter that wasn’t down to the heart on the wedding day. She felt Daniel had probably met the lady he had dated before and wouldn’t want her again, so, trying to move away from him might solve the case in a way. She rested against the solid maple cabinets. It was a big and beautiful kitchen with halogen flash mounts and track light that produced an excellent lighting in the kitchen. She walked to the microwave and stood near it. There was a Kenmore smooth surface range with oversize oven window, also an osterilizer blender stood beside the microwave and behind her was a dishwasher and a double bowl ceramic sink with disposal. It was a very beautiful kitchen Daniel ensured she had. She felt Daniel didn’t like her again, even though she hugged Alex, she didn’t expect him to retailiate too. He just tried to pay her back in her own coin, she had thought as she snorted. She had been trying to put her hopes up, thinking the relationship wouldn’t continue that way. She had no courage to speak to him because she felt he was angry, Daniel on ther hand was disappointed in her, he also felt she would feel the same to way to him. So, how would he go before her and make an utterance? ** ** ** Alex rolled on the mattress as he took a glimpse at the wall clock that was tickling softly. He felt it was moving faster than expected as he picked up his phone. He stared at his wallpaper for a moment and dropped the phone again. He had forgotten about Nora already, why did she come to cast a shadow again? His days in America had been so boring and sad because Nora was not there. Seeing Gloria’s image as his wallpaper made him remember the day he crossed his mind to forget Nora completely. Did he even forget her completely? As he had always said, there is something spectacular about one’s first love. It had been very tough, if not, why didn’t he hold himself back at the sight of Nora? He remembered how he pulled Gloria by the hand into his vehicle so they could leave the plaza so that they wouldn’t complicate the issue even more. He was a Christian but a non- practicing one. He had never believed in the existence of a God, not even a god too. He liked being himself and that was one major thing that did cause trouble between him and Gloria. Gloria was a chorister in her church and had always encouraged him to come to church with her, but he wouldn’t listen. He had never remembered Nora ever telling him about Christ Jesus. He felt Gloria was becoming a burden when it was time to proof one’s religious life and belief. He never for once stopped by in church, he really hated it. He believed there was no God, no eternity, sins are just ways by which we make living, sins are normal things needed to be done. He left with Gloria on Friday and both never discussed till he got to the front of her house and parked. The first thing that came out of his mouth was to ask who Daniel was. Gloria never minded him, she just curved her lips into a smile. “A long lost lover.” He was indignant. That was Gloria that had always told him about Christ, in sin! “Don’t you know it’s a sin to hug a guy who’s not your lover?” Gloria who didn’t know what precisely to say so she could get herself outta Alex’s blame just cleared her throat and glanced at him. “It’s not in the Bible.” Alex just laughed. That had been baffling him. She told him no such thing was in the Bible and came down form his vehicle, walking away. Who now created God! He thought within himself with a sneer and drove away. At least, he knew no one created God, muslims who also believe in Allah, he needed to know who created Allah for him to believe Allah created him. In fact, he wished to know who created the gods so that he could believe that the gods actually exist. Scam! He would think and hiss. A knock at door made him know he had gone far in his pipe dream and raised his head. It was past eight in the morning and he hadn’t spoken with Gloria since he dropped her off. He just stared at her picture as his wallpaper and had been thinking since then. He walked to the living room to know who was there. Opening the door, he took a gaze at the fellow, it was Gloria. ** ** ** The living room was though small but was full. It was beautiful and was well decorated with vases, decoys, moose and bear figures. He had no Christian tapestries in the house, a Sony tape deck, AIWA portable stero and a pine coffe table that stood in a side of the living room. The sofas were brown, big and beautiful with mathing lamps on either side of each sofa. “Welcome in here.” Alex said as he opened the door and walked to a sofa to pick his seat. “Alex, you couldn’t call.” Gloria walked in behind her. “Why would I call? At least you told me it is not a sin to hug another guy, why are you here, then?” “I’m going on to church but just stopped by to ask you few questions.” Alex looked at her. “I hope this is not a way to preach sermons to me? I’m not ready for all that today.” He dismissed her with a wave of hand. “Absolutely no. I came to ask you who the lady you hugged is.” She said. Alex laughed. “I won’t tell you until you tell me who the guy you hugged is.” “Alright, I know you. He is a friend of mine, a long lost one.” She replied. “Exactly! She’s also a long lost friend, Gloria.” He laughed. “I knew it! You know we’re getting married in some weeks time, Alex, tell me whatever it is that you feel for me.” Alex chuckled. “What’s this princess saying all of a sudden? I’m a gentle guy, you know that.” “I don’t know that! You hugged that lady, didn’t you?” “You also hugged that guy, have you forgotten?” “Alex!” “Gloria!” ** ** **

*******Episode 5******** Daniel didn’t know if he would be served breakfast once he entered into the house back, he felt he didn’t have to embarrass himself by trying to sit down and wait for the breakfast and at the end of the day, Nora wouldn’t behave as if she knew him at all. Daniel paced into the living room and sat down. He was a Christian but he didn’t take everything so serious that he had to leave for church as early as possible. He even hated Sunday School lessons, he liked getting to the church for the service by ten am than getting to church for Sunday School. He picked up the remote control of the 45 inches flat screen LG television and that of the decoder that was beside him and tuned the channel of the decoder if he could see a movie for few minutes before getting prepared for the service. He started seeing the movie when Nora got to the dining room and served the food there. She just sat down. She didn’t know Daniel’s mind and wouldn’t want a situation where she would call him for his breakfast and he wouldn’t answer her at all. I think if he’s hungry, he would come for his food here. Nora had thought as she began to eat her own food. Daniel who was hungry kept turning his head towards the dining room, wondering when Nora would stop her bad attitudes. He didn’t know what would become of him if he walked to the dining, beside her to eat. What if she packs her food? He had thought as he faced the television set again. Few minutes after Nora finished eating, she walked to the kitchen and got her plate washed. She thereafter rushed inside the house to freshen up and prepare for that Sunday Service. Daniel motioned to the dining room and beside the dining table as he peeped inside the serving plates. He opened one of them and the aroma filled his void stomach. He felt like eating the food, he didn’t know his boundary since he hugged Gloria. Abeg, I no dey eat. He muttered as he closed the plate but not exactly as Nora closed it up. He switched off the television set and walked inside the room to take his bath too. ** ** ** “When will you give your life to Christ?” Gloria suddenly introduced into the discussion of herself and Alex. Alex looked at her with leery eyes and hissed. “I think you’ve done enough here, Gloria.” He whisked to his feet. “Enough here?” She smiled broadly. “Let’s go to church, Alex.” She said. “Gloria, I said I am not ready to go to any church, na by force?” “How would I get married to a man who wouldn’t teach my children about the ways of the Lord, Alex? No!” “You have started again. Marriage is all about take me or leave me! Several ladies are out there and they want me badly.” Gloria chuckled and frowned almost immediately. “Then get those ladies, Alex! If you don’t follow me to church today, that’s the end between us.” Alex laughed. “I knew it, Gloria! I suspected from the scratch that you’ve been looking for my weak points so that you can go on with Daniel, right?” Gloria became indignant. “Hell no! Why on earth would I do such? But why on earth are you also an unbeliever? Why? Why can’t you believe in God? Why do you find it difficult to go to church?” “I told you ealier, Gloria. A man who would preach to an unbeliever, his own life must glorify your God first. It’s only if your God can show himself to me, if he can show how mighty he is, then, I’ll serve him.” He grinned. “I’m off.” Gloria said and stood up. “Alright, great!” Alex felt fulfilled as he lead the way to the door and locked it up immediately Gloria left.

*********Episode 6******** **dedicated to all my fans dat voted for me** Daniel. Yes, we have said it before, haven’t we? Thank God we even talked about the dress we would put on today before everything crashed now. But wait, what’s up with this thanksgiving we are going for today? What’s in this marriage that worths thanksgiving? Now, how can I give proper thanks to God now when I’m hungry? How would someone sit in church and would listen to the Pastor with an empty stomach? Haha! Daniel, ko possible na, at aaall! I know I’m just going to church for going sake today unless I get something to eat. But wait, what’s up with Nora? Why has she been behaving this way? I have said it that I wouldn’t invite anyone to come and settle any dispute between my wife and I, but how would this just end? Why did she sleep in a different room? Why! *** Nora. Why did he hug that lady? He should have known I hugged Alex because I wasn’t in my right state of mind, it wasn’t deliberate. I know he hugged that lady because I also hugged Alex. But what else have I done now? Why’s he not talking to me? I don’t think he has eaten his meal, if I try to speak to him now and he just snubs me, what will I do? I don’t wish to tell my friends about this, but who will solve all this problems of ours? Tomorrow is February 14, should I keep hoping he will surprise me tomorrow? Why did he take his eyes off now? He doesn’t want to see me right? Nora had thought as she motioned inside the church. She just neglected me, she’s leaving angrily. Daniel heaved a sigh before he walked inside the Church too. ** ** ** 4pm. Daniel was glad everything went well in Church. The thoughts had been a burden to him earlier, brewing if the Church wouldn’t know of the problem he had gotten himself into. He had stepped out of the room and met another served food on the dining set. He just stared at it and didn’t know if it’d be a problem once eaten. He didn’t want what would crush his marriage early, but this problem was a great factor that could ruin his marriage. As he thudded down the sofa in the living room and tuned the television set, his phone buzzed and he reached for it. “Mart man, how far now?” He said with a smile. “Really? King’s Place? On my way.” He grinned as he sprung up to his feet. Nora rushed out of the room. She just remembered that she had to see a movie by 4pm. She halted as she saw Daniel and looked as if she just saw a ghost, surprised and shocked. Daniel didn’t even look at her before he rushed to the room to make a change of clothing and rushed to meet his friend- Martins at King’s Place.

Wao! Congratulations concerning your wedding, boy.” “Who’s your boy?” Daniel laughed. Martins shrugged with a grin. “You have forgotten that you’re my boy, right? Anyways, I called you here for something important.” Martins narrowed his eyes. “Really?” Daniel adjusted his seat as he listened. “Sure, Dan. I just knew there’s no other person who can help me but you.” “What’s the issue, Martins?” He enquired. “I need you to help me talk to a lady, Dan. ****episode 9******* Daniel thought he was just dreaming when he saw the call. Would Nora really call his mobile phone? He wondered as he reached for it slowly and stared at it continuously. This is a lie! He had muttered as he stared at it, wondering if he was really seeing what was right or that as just an illusion. The call ended when he was in absolute shock and couldn’t pick it due to his doubts. He just put the phone on his laps and swooshed out a long breath from his nostrils, narrowing his eyes and wondering what was going on. Mhen! I should have picked up that call! Why am I being stupid? He hit himself suddenly, forgetting Martins and Stephanie were on seat. He just became conscious of himself again and adjusted. “I’m sorry, was just having..” and his mobile phone buzzed again. He got it quickly to check if it was Nora and she really was the one again. He smiled and stroke his beard. “Nora even loves me, why has she been pretending…” he muttered with a grin only to be shocked as Stephanie grabbed the mobile phone from him and picked up the call. “What!” He hastened to his feet in quest of getting his mobile phone quickly. What on earth would Nora think of then a lady picks up the call again? At least she had mixed with Daniel’s sisters very well and would decode the voice on the mobile phone, if it was really any of his sisters. “Are you alright? Let me have that!” He screamed. “No..” Steph rushed inside the room. “Hello.” She said to Nora. Nora who was expecting herself to hear Daniel’s voice froze as she heard the female voice. She already knew it was none of his sisters, who could the lady be? She tried to get off the feeling, thinking it might be a close friend who wished to speak to his wife. She smiled and cleared her throat as she replied. “Yeah, good evening.” She said fluently. “I don’t think anything is good about this evening, lady. Why do you keep disturbing him when he’s not ready to pick up your call? Please get off the line.” She said and ended the call. On setting her eyes on him as he got into her house, she had already liked him so much that she felt she wouldn’t control herself because of it. On her seat, she had been uncomfortable, thinking in herself that who would be disturbing her new crush? She probably haven’t looked at him well to see the ring in his fourth finger and probably didn’t check the caller to know the mobile number wasn’t saved with just ‘Nora’ but ‘My Life.’ She cloistered to the living room, smiling and making herself attractive again. “Daniel, the lady won’t disturb you again.” She said as she handed his phone over to him. “What? I think you’re mad already! Are you out of your mind? Have you seen this?” He raised his hand to show off his wedding ring. “Wow! Though I haven’t seen it, but, married men are really the best because they have handled courtship before.” “Steph! This is my own friend for God’s sake, why are you doing this? I never knew you were this kind of person, if I had known I wouldn’t have brought my friend here at all!” Martins hissed as he whisked to his feet and tapped Daniel. “Please, Dan. I never thought this would happen to me, I never knew Daniel has been so desperate not to talk to me that she even gave a whore the mobile phone to speak to me. Why’s he going after a whore when I am inside the house already? Why is he after another woman when I am married to him already! Or was that the lady we saw that day? No! Daniel has gotten his way to find this lady, right? He’s spitting me with her, right? Oh no! I rolled on the mattress, crying out uncontrollably. I was already out of the universe with my thoughts. At first, it looked like a pipe dream, but it’s now developing into the reality! Don’t tell me Daniel has been looking for that woman again, so I’m the useless one, right? If this is not true, why hasn’t he called back? Why hasn’t he called to explain the situation of things to me? I definitely know he wouldn’t like me anymore, not when he met the lady already. I was only trying to summon courage to at least speak to him when I don’t know his mind. I was down, thinking that he might have been trying to talk to me too and maybe he’s been facing the same challenge I’m into, but now I really know Daniel has been avoiding me and all the dishes I have prepared because of a woman. In everything we are doing, there is God. ** ** ** Gloria was getting frustrated of Alex. Why would someone doubt God in that manner? He didn’t believe in his existence, not even to an inch! She had been thinking of what she could use to convince him but not even an idea was forthcoming. She hissed and just picked up her bag. “If Alex is an atheist, I better break up with him now. I can’t marry a person who doesn’t believe in God.” She said and walked out of the house, going to meet Alex. She had been praying to God to show himself to the great Alex as Alex as said. She knew it’s only if God proofs his existence that an unbeliever would believe him completely. She had been trying to hold herself back because he would just say that she has done that just because of Daniel. She even wished she could see Daniel again. She wished everything that happened didn’t happen to them. How sweet would it have been? She darted out.

*****episode 10****** Daniel was now without focus. He failed to pick up Martins calls already, thinking within himself that what would they be discussing when his crush just destroyed him? He was already miserable as he kept driving without knowing his destination. He didn’t know what would happen if he went home and felt driving around would waste much of the time so that he would sneak into the house by night. But, would that solve all his problem? He had wondered as his car screeched to halt at the front of King’s Bar. If his life would really be miserable, he felt he should balance the equation by drinking. He was already a frustrated man and didn’t know how he’d straighten his bent paths. He walked inside and took his seat on the barstool, smiling to the bartender. “Give me two bottles of Romeo.” He said. The bright lady turned around to get the bottles of Romeo and soon, Daniel started drinking. ** ** ** Nora had left the room for the bar. She was tired and also frustrated as she motioned closer to the oak bar and picked up a wine glass cup from the hanger and plopped down one of the barstools there, reaching for the small towel to be by her side and the wine itself. Just then, she began to drink too, till she was drunk and didn’t know what was happening again. ** ** ** Daniel had taken the two bottles demanded and paid the bartender before he took his leave, already drunk and walking like a drunk man. He wasn’t sure if he would be able to drive home safely, or if he wouldn’t kill a fellow before getting home. He just hopped inside the vehicle and started driving, maneuvering from right to left till his destiny lead him to his house safely. He parked the vehicle and dropped down from the car, leaning against it for a while. He wasn’t sure of what he would meet inside the house. Would Nora still be inside this house? He wondered as he threw his heavy body away from the vehicle and started walking inside the house. He got to the living room and wiped his face if he could still see very well, but there was no one on seat. He was beginning to think if his thought was real. She had left already. He motioned further till he got to the bar and met Nora on the floor, drunk too. He bent and carried her up, admist his drunkenness. Then, Nora’s eyes opened slowly, but it was just blurry. “Daniel..” she hit him by the chest and started making love confessions in her unconscious state. It seems it’s in a drunk state one can only know who’s in love with him. Daniel who was also drunk was managing to her utterances as he was making his own too, telling each other about their feelings. Daniel dropped her on their matrimonial bed and switched off the light as he jumped on the bed too. It’s only tomorrow the two would know what’s up. ** ** **

****episode 11***** Daniel rolled from one side to the other, fast asleep. As he was sleeping, he felt something unusual had happened to him. He didn’t know what it really was, his eyes were too heavy that he felt he wouldn’t open them forever. He was sweating profusely even though the air conditioner of the room had been left on earlier in the day. It was already 11pm, his wife and himself were still fast asleep. He closed his eyes more firmly and drove into the dreamland. ** ** ** It was just ten minutes past five in the morning, Nora opened her eyes slowly and tried to get the image of where she was. She opened it at once as she assessed where she was. Matrimonial room? Matrimonial bed? What’s happening! She muttered as her heartbeat increased at once. What happened last night? She wondered as she looked by her left probably to remember what happened. Yes, she was drunk! Who carried her? She questioned herself as she turned her head to the right and saw Daniel by his side. Was she seeing the right thing or her eyes were just deceiving her? She had asked herself as she wiped her face again. What happened? She muttered under her breath as she took away the bed cover and met stains of blood on herself. Did something happen? She squinted her face slightly as shook her head in disbelief. How come? She kept asking herself rhetorical questions as she stood up and picked up her things. She couldn’t even remember what happened the previous night, probably because she was under the influence of the alcohol. She sure didn’t remember she said some incoherent words to Daniel, likewise Daniel too. They were just drunk. She stepped out of the room to her own room. She just had her period done the previous week, could it be that something happened between her and Daniel? She wondered as she sat down on the chair near her standing mirror. Really? She smiled as she giggled. Anyways, she didn’t feel bad about it, at least, that was her husband, not another man. “But what do I do?” She wondered as she stepped into the bathroom to have a warm shower and get her stained clothes washed. Was this the beginning of joy in their lives? She had wondered as she questioned herself. ** ** ** It was six-thirty when Daniel opened his eyes and his eyes darted round the room. He could perceive Nora’s scent. Anyways, was that really important that minute? He had thought as he rushed up the bed. He felt something he couldn’t place his hand on had happened on him. “What happened?” He wondered as he squinted his face. “This doesn’t matter, at least, I’m alive.” He smiled as he glimpsed at the wall clock, it was already few minutes to seven am. He had to leave the house before seven am, wouldn’t he get stucked in traffic? He wondered as he rushed to the bathroom to have his bath. As he stepped into the bathroom, his mind flipped back to what happened last night. He remembered he was drunk and he came inside the house when he met Nora. What happened after? He couldn’t remember as he swooshed out a long breath and began to bath. Just as he began bathing, he noticed he had stains of blood on his lower abdomen and his shorts were stained too. “What’s this?” He wondered with a squinted face. He just hissed. “Being alive is the main thing.” He had thought as he paid little attention to what just happened. That was their first time of sex, he couldn’t really place his hands on what happened to him. “I think more happened after I saw Nora.” He wondered as he rushed inside the bedroom and flipped the wardrobe open. He picked up a crimson blue shirt and black silk tie which he would use on his black fitted trouser. Soon, he dressed up without looking at the surroundings. He didn’t even check the bed before he darted out of the room. I offended her yesterday, how will I show my face? He wondered as he rushed to his car and drove out. Then, Nora was done with the cooking and had served the food. She stepped into the living room and found out that Daniel had gone. “He’s still annoyed with me?” She wondered as she let out air from her mouth. “God, please intervene.” She muttered as she got her wedge shoes too. She had to rush to her place of work. ** ** **

*****episode 12 ** ** ** Daniel sank into his swivel chair as he got to his office. Everything was still not clear to him, it seemed he had to really remember everything that happened last night! He thought as he bit his finger. Did Nora sleep in that room? He wondered as he swiveled his chair to the left, deep in thought. He was finding it hard to remember he was the one who actually carried her, he couldn’t even remember he spoke to her not to talk of sleeping together. “Who knows if she has forgiven me before? Why did that lady pick up her call just to get thing worse? No! That Stephanie is meant to be hanged!” He hit his hand against the table as he swiveled his chair again, breathing heavily. To him, his brain was really void that he was still concerned that Nora must really be indignant at him. Stephanie picked her call again, why wouldn’t she be angry? Just as she returned back to her seat that minute, she saw the file on her table. She chortled as she clapped her hands together, wondering what miracle that just happened. She never knew it was on her table and she had been going up and down, searching for the file. That had gotten her attention for fourty five minutes that she had forgotten she was online. She just finished balancing the balance and got set to leave. She picked up her phone and dropped it inside her bag. She was really tired already, searching for a file, rushing back home to wash the bed cover. As she stepped out to enter into her car, she saw Alex again. What is Alex doing here? She had thought ashe looked at the back and saw him. He was dressed in a light-green buttoned down shirt, tucked into his black loose-fitted trouser. He wasn’t using a necktie, his hair was well combed and he looked handsome in his well polished black pair of shoes. “Good day.” She just waved. “Me? Good day? Just as she entered, Alex came down from his parked vehicle and knocked at the gate slightly. “I’ve been following her, she said I should follow her. I have to get some documents from the office.” He told the gatekeeper. The security man too never doubted what he said because he looked serious and real. “Okay.” He let him into the house. He smiled as he walked to the main door and knocked slightly. “Just come inside.” He heard Nora’s soft voice and pushed the door open. “Don’t be mad at me..” he quickly said before she would stand up and throw him out. “What’s the meaning of this rubbish! So you followed me, Alex?” She was infuriated already. “Just calm down, Nora.” How do you expect me to calm down when we hugged the other day and my husbands knows you now. He wondered if it wouldn’t be a crime after opening the gate for the unwanted again. “Sir?” He widened his eyes. “Sure, open it.” Daniel deliberately crossed his hand over Nora for Alex to know he was already fine with his wife. As he stood, he was even boiling because he had caused pandemonium in his house again. “Nonsense!” Alex hissed at the gatekeeper and walked in slowly. Raising his head, he saw Daniel and Nora. He halted instantly. He was shocked, but could he say it? How would it sound to hearing to ask why couple were standing in that manner. Daniel was already indignant as he saw him. He had thought in himself earlier that if he had the chance of seeing him again, he would definitely beat the heaven out of him. He took off his hand from Nora and took steps forward. He was smiling, but deep inside him, he was boiling in anger. “Any problem?” He enquired. “I only forgot my keys.” Alex stuttered as he replied. Nora grabbed Daniel’s hand and pulled him to the basin to wash his stained hands. “You shouldn’t have beaten him, Daniel.” Daniel chuckled. “Don’t you have any adjective you can use to qualify my noun?” Nora squinted her face. She didn’t understand what Daniel was saying. She shrugged. “What do you mean?” “Must you call me Daniel? We have several adjectives, waiting to be used. For example, why do we have sweetheart, honey, love, baby, mine, my life and many more.” The two laughed. It had been nice since they made up. Daniel pulled out of the house and slotted an audio compact disc into the CD player, listening to shout to the lord by Don Moen. The journey continued until a car started running after them, Daniel never knew, he loved the music so much that he had engulfed himself in it. Shortly, the car caught up with them. Two hefty guys came down from the vehicle. They really knew what they doing because it was a quiet arena where no car passing that minute. Daniel whined down to question why he was blocked, then he was shot by the head. He collapsed instantly. The guys went on to Nora and grabbed her. They threw her into the vehicle and sped off, leaving Daniel’s body in the car.

Actually, if it was Stephanie that's behind the attack, Daniel wouldn't have been shot cuz she's crushing on him. Its Alex that'll do that - he lost Nora before and has found her again, and Gloria is close to breaking up with him. He definitely doesn't want to lose them at a time. The journey continued until a car started running after them, Daniel never knew, he loved the music so much that he had engulfed himself in it. Shortly, the car caught up with them. Two hefty guys came down from the vehicle. They really knew what they doing because it was a quiet arena where no car passing that minute. Nora opened her heavy eyes, earlier, her nose had been stuffed with chloroform to make her sleep. She had been in shock, shouting and crying because of Daniel. She had been longing to win a soul for God, but she didn’t know how she would approach anyone she met. ***episode 19&20 HER EYES WERE AS RED AS THE BLAZE OF FIRE. No other proof could show that she had been on the soft bed, crying overnight. She was not after her problems but after Daniel. She had often questioned herself, wondering is he really dead? If only she could get a quick and correct response that he was alive, her mind would be at rest. Why would disaster strike at the time the two began to get along? Her heart hadn’t stopped saying prayers for Daniel as she laid on the bed. It had been hours that she’s been seated without blinking an eyelid. She had shouted Alex’s name continuously but it seemed the criminal was not around. Where could he have gone overnight? Who could tell if he was around and was just pretending to be absent? She could feel pain all over herself, Alex was really a bastard! **** Daniel’s parents and siblings walked into the Hospital slowly, their eyes; darting round the reception as they shuffled to a seat. “Let’s go on ahead to see the Doctor.” Daniel’s mother told the frustrated man on seat. His ears still couldn’t believe that Daniel was really gone, he really wished to see the corpse of his son before giving up on him. The two went on ahead as they left Tonia and her brother on seat, telling them they’d be right back. As they walked on, Daniel’s mother drifted closer to the father and they began to discuss. Soon, they got to the Doctor’s office and knocked softly. The two walked inside the office immediately they got the go-ahead to come inside. “How are you doing, Doctor?” Dan’s father enquired as he sat down. “Good day, Sir.” The Doctor stood up as he protracted his hand for handshake. “Good day, Doctor. What of my son?” The man quickly asked. The Doctor hurtled a gaze at Dan’s mother, probably wondering maybe she hadn’t told the man that Daniel was gone already. He had started feeling some unusual feelings deep inside him as the two had been together discussing. He was short of words, not knowing what exactly to say to Gloria again and didn’t want them to part ways that minute. ****episode 23***** Alex was moving his head, dancing to the beat of the music he was listening to. He halted the car and came down slowly, whistling as he approached the gate. He unlocked the gate and heard Nora’s shouts inside the house, screaming for help. He chuckled and walked back into his car to drive in. He parked the vehicle and came down to lock up his gate before he finally went inside the house to face Nora for shouting. He had unbuttoned his shirt and headed to Nora’s room to deal with her for shouting. What if people had heard her shouts? This girl is just insane! He had said as he pushed the door to her room open and rested his back on the door after he locked it up. He was looking at her, his eyes were already transmitting what he had in his mind, ANGER! He bit his lips and stared at her. Nora was already by the edge of the mattress, her heart was beating as fast as it could, she was so afraid she had been thinking Alex would just kill her that day. “You want people to know, is that not it?” He took a step forward as he questioned her. “Alex.” She called the name softly as she stretched forth her hand, telling him to stop coming closer. “You can bash me for all I care… That is if you have the strength to do that.” He laughed and continued, “do you want to destroy this deal? He and Gloria had felt the police officer were meant to be closer to them now and grab whom they ought to jail. He looked at Gloria every minute, wondering if he was safe. If not for Gloria who had told him to drive back to Alex’s place, he had already parked his car, awaiting the police from where he could not be found. Soon, the police’s vehicle came around and the two got down from the car and rushed forward to meet the policemen. “Are you Mr. David?” One of them had asked as they saw David. “Sure.” He stretched forth his hand to exchange a handshake. His friend must have told the policemen about him, definitely. The officer shook his hand. “Is this the house?” He glimpsed at the building and back at David. “Yes, this is the house.” Gloria cut in. “Alright.” The man replied and looked back at the other officers. “Guys!” He called out as they motioned towards the gate. It was locked. “Locked.” The officer said to his guys as he signaled to one of them that climbed over the fence. It was so quick and silent that only a person who might be expecting them would notice. The officer opened the gate slowly while other officers came in slowly. David and Gloria just stood together and were looking at them. The policemen motioned further, walking stealthily till they got to the main entrance of the house. One of them just pressed down the door handle and luckily, the door was open! He waved his hand at them, signaling that the door was open. Then, they began to walk in. ** ** ** Alex had taken off his clothes. He was clad in only his singlet and boxer shorts when he walked out of the room to the living room. He picked up the remote control of the television and had his seat as he tuned the television. He had been thinking of what exactly to do with Nora since she told him she was pregnant. He didn’t want to kill her, but didn’t know how long it would take for him to make preparations for the two of them to travel out of the country. “She must surely be mine! By the time I am through with all these, she will at the end love me. At least, there is no Daniel anywhere again, let’s see if she won’t dance to the tune of my music at the end!” He laughed aloud. “Freeze, don’t move.” He heard next. He gazed at the television set with his bulgy eyes fully open, probably wondering if the noise came from the movie he was seeing or all was already dawning on him. “No>” He turned his head and saw guns, already pointing at him. “No.” He repeated. “This is a yes, Sir.” An officer stepped forward with a leaflet of foolscap sheet and unfolded it. “This is our search warrant, we are here to search your house.” He displayed the paper before him before he looked at the men and tilted his head, moving in the direction of inside the house. “Search, guys.” “There’s nothing to search in this house! This is illegal! You can’t just come to someone’s house with a sheet of paper and request to see the what is in the house. I won’t take this!” He kept shouting at the top of his voice. “Please, Sir. I’ll just advice you to remain quiet because whatever you say here…” “-will be used against me, right?” He concluded the sentence as he stared at the officer and back to the ones who were already on their ways to search inside the house. “No.” He screamed again. “We found here!” A voice was heard from a room suddenly. “Shit!” He hit his left fist in his right palm. ****episode 24**** Nora was carried by two policemen. She was already weak that she couldn’t stand on her own that minute. The leader of the police officers around had made a call through, requesting for an ambulance as Alex was being taken away. David and Gloria were still outside, awaiting the policemen to bring him out, cuffed as he had been cuffed already. As soon as Gloria set her eyes on him, she felt bad and pitied him. “Alex, despite all I have tried! Despite all the words of God I shared with you, I never knew you’d end it this way. I tried all my best to bring you to the line of Christ, I preached to you, I told you about God but your life never changed!” “Can someone who’s preaching to the other to change be the one who invited the policemen to come and arrest the one she has been preaching to?” Alex questioned her. Gloria wiped her tears. “Sure. I saved a life now, at least. No, I even saved two lives. I saved the life of the young lady in there and yours! If I never called the policemen, you might have killed that lady inside that house and you have added to your sins. He still couldn’t talk or walk! Though, he was getting better day by day, but she expected him to be whole already. For how long! ** ** ** It was a cool Saturday evening. The breeze was blowing softly by the side of the beach and there were lovers and families around the beach who might have to have a view and enjoy their lives like David and Gloria. The two were under the shed with a drink with each of them. David had told Gloria earlier that he would like to take her to somewhere where she would love to go to She really loved it, from all indications. She had been smiling and drinking with David for a while now as both of kept running conversations on their secondary school life. “I just wish that time can just come back!” Gloria had said severally. “Indeed one of the best moments of one’s life. A moment you’ll think it’s tough and after that time, you’d just want that time to come back to life. Honestly those teachers were bombs then! I didn’t laugh at teachers’ blunders but that was too much! He was now being called Pastor by even warders in charge of them. Since he knew what the truth was, he had been preaching the gospel to everyone he met. He had learnt humility to even prisoners younger than him. He had promised himself that the twenty years he was meant to use in the prison, would be to God’s glory and service if he was still alive. He was already a role model of many prisoners already, letting peace reign in everything they did in the prison there. He was surely a great testimony of God’s change. ** ** ** David walked back briskly, sweating profusely. “Let’s get going.” He said to her. “I thought you said you wish to ask me one question, why the sudden change of heart?” She wondered. “You’ll get the question very soon. Let’s just get going, ma.” He smiled. Gloria chuckled. “Alright, Sir.” She stood up and they got going already. As they got to where they parked the car, David opened the door for her to enter and crossed to the driver’s seat after shutting the door. THE LONG EXPECTED FINALE Gloria walked into her aunt’s place slowly. David had dropped her off at her place but she wished to see her aunt that day. He walked inside the house briskly to get the bag of the baby. He could notice everything was changing even more, about him. She knew if David was a wrong man, she would have seen several signs pointing against the two of them, but lines has been falling in pleasant places for the past two months. She was convinced enough to reply him, at least she had taken two months to pray because of all she had heard about choosing life partners. It is a life contract and sin to come out of it. “Dave?” She said as she was sure he had picked up his call. “How are you doing?” She enquired, sipping from the cup of drink before her in the living room. “I am just good. I have been swimming since morning, but now getting prepared for this evening’s meeting in Church.” He replied her. “I am calling just to reply what you told me.. two months back.” She paused for a while. David’s heart skipped a beat. “I’m giving you.. a yes!” She finally let out. David screamed. “I am coming over right now, Gloria!” He shouted on. It was already thirty minutes in the labour room, when would he hear what he really wanted to hear? When! As he turned his head towards the door, he saw his parents and Tonia. “Welcome.” He walked to them briskly. “Wow! Daniel, are you really the one? You can now walk normally?” Tonia was shocked. She was still at his place a week before. What brought you this evening, Gloria.” She smiled. “I already told you about the friend I have..” “David?” Pastor interrupted. Gloria nodded. “He proposed to me this evening, ma.” She informed. “Wow!” She clapped her hands together with joy written all over her face. “I’m really happy, Gloria.” She rubbed her shoulder. “Thanks a lot, ma.” She tilted her head, smiling. “You are highly welcome. So you came to tell me that, is that not?” She questioned. “Yes. But what really brought me is my approach. How do I really know if this guy won’t turnout like Alex?” Pastor chuckled. “Dear Sister, first of all, you also shouldn’t have that mentality that all guys are the same, they actually are not. It’s just the same way as ladies, as we have good ones, we also have horrible ones too. Fingers are not equal. Back to what you asked, you said the guy was an unbeliever, am I right?” She nodded in replying her. “How far has he grown spiritually?” She enquired. “He attends my church and he’s been wonderful. He has even been added to the sub-brothers coordinators because of his great spiritual growth. He attends almost all the programs in church and he’s been great.” “So pleased to hear that, really pleased. So, if he has grown so well, he has a high percentage of you. I have told you, a lady cannot just say ‘yes’ to a guy without going back to God and asking God if he’s really the one. If you had done that for Alex, God would have shown you a long time back, but you wasted the time. Dear, all you just have to do is to go back to God and keep asking.” “How do I get convinced?” She enquired, squinting her eyes. “You can hear from God, can’t you? God can send you messages anyhow he feels like! It might be when you are reading the Bible, you might just see someone who would come and meet you and tell you God sent him or her to you for confirmation. Dear, anything can happen.” She explained. Gloria was relieved. “Thanks so much, ma. God bless you.” ** ** ** Daniel had gotten better to an extent that he had been trying to walk slowly. Though, he was still unbalance with his walking steps, but he was also giving it everything it takes through the help of Nora. Tonia had parked her vehicle outside the gate and knocked. The newly employed gatekeeper hurried on to the gate and got it unlocked. He knew her already, she was always coming around to check on Daniel. “Nora, dear how are you?” She opened her arms for a hug as she entered. “I am doing good, sister. Hope everything’s fine too?” “Sure.” She nodded. “How’s Daniel?” She enquired. Nora pointed. “That’s him over there. He’s getting better.” Tonia walked on to the bar side to check on Daniel who was sitting on his wheel chair there. “Brother, how are you?” She enquired. He nodded. “I’m actually better.” He said slowly, so he could be heard because his speech wasn’t clear yet. “Good, dear. Have you now eaten?” “Help me thank Nora, my sister.. She has been.. been taking ca..re of .. of me..” He finally landed. “That’s nothing. If she doesn’t take care of you, who will? You’re her husband and she’s doing her part. That’s what love actually means.” Daniel smiled. “Your husband?” “He is fine. He sent his greetings, he had to go for our landlords’ meeting.” “Okay.” ** ** ** Two Months Later. It was in the morning, 8 am when Daniel heard a loud scream from the Kitchen. He was just lying down on the couch in the living room when he was overwhelmed by the noise. He sat up as quick as he could and walked to the Kitchen. He could already walk on his own and his speech had gotten a whole better. All thanks to God and Nora who had been helping him exercise himself and always speaking to him so he could be replying and getting better day by day. “What is it, Nora.” She was already in labour. “Daniel..” She cried out, holding on to the cabinet. “Sorry, Nora.” He crossed her hand over his neck and they began to walk to the car slowly till he got her into the car. “Will I be the one to drive?” He wondered. “Sure, I have gotten well to that extent, even if not, I am expecting my child, nothing can happen.” He assured himself. He walked inside the house briskly to get the bag of the baby. He could notice everything was changing even more, about him. He could walk better already. “I am back, stop this noise, all is well, Nora.” He said plainly. Nora who was in labour pain, glimpsed at him to really confirm if he was the one who really spoke without skipping. He wasn’t so perfect before, but he could speak well now! “Dan, can you drive?” She quickly asked, her face had turned sour already. “Sure, Nora.” He hopped into the vehicle and drove off. ** ** ** Gloria was excited. She didn’t know if she should just put a call across to David or she should go and meet him. She had prayed as much as she could, fasted as much as she wanted and had the unchanging feeling that she wasn’t treading on the wrong path. She knew if David was a wrong man, she would have seen several signs pointing against the two of them, but lines has been falling in pleasant places for the past two months. She was convinced enough to reply him, at least she had taken two months to pray because of all she had heard about choosing life partners. It is a life contract and sin to come out of it. “Dave?” She said as she was sure he had picked up his call. “How are you doing?” She enquired, sipping from the cup of drink before her in the living room. “I am just good. I have been swimming since morning, but now getting prepared for this evening’s meeting in Church.” He replied her. “I am calling just to reply what you told me.. two months back.” She paused for a while. David’s heart skipped a beat. “I’m giving you.. a yes!” She finally let out. David screamed. “I am coming over right now, Gloria!” He shouted on. Gloria wiped the tears that had formed in her eyes and grinned. “Thank you, Lord.” ** ** ** Daniel had already called his parents and Tonia to come over to the hospital he had dropped Nora. He hardly took his seat since Nora was taken into the labour room. He had been praying and had been walking to and fro. Daniel’s heartbeat had been racing for a while now. It was already thirty minutes in the labour room, when would he hear what he really wanted to hear? When! As he turned his head towards the door, he saw his parents and Tonia. “Welcome.” He walked to them briskly. “Wow! Daniel, are you really the one? You can now walk normally?” Tonia was shocked. She was still at his place a week before. Though, he could walk, but it wasn’t as perfect as it had turned out to be. “I am the one.” “Where is she?” His father asked, walking to a seat. “She’s already inside the..” “Mr. Daniel.” He heard from behind. Alas! It was the Doctor. “Doctor..” He hurried on, shivering. “Sorry, we took too late. Why didn’t she come for ante natal care?” The Doctor enquired. “She was busy with me, I was shot by my head and it really caused a lot of havoc.” He explained. The Doctor smiled. “If she had came for it, we would have known that she would be giving birth to a set of twins. Anyways, congratulations.” He stretched forth his hand for a handshake. Daniel screamed. Tonia who had been hearing all of that also screamed aloud, happiness filled everywhere. Even nurses were smiling. “Twins?” He asked again, gripping the Doctor. “Sure.” “Can I see my wife and my children now?” “No. The nurses will tell you when you can do that. They are busy cleaning them up.” He explained. “The Doc!” He shouted for joy. He could see his parents also laughing happily. He couldn’t help but demonstrate how happy he was by grinning around the hospital. Soon, he was called to go in and see his wife. He saw Nora and their two baby boys, smiling to him. “At last, MY WIFE AND I and my two kids!” He exclaimed. Joy overflowed. ** ** ** David had rushed over to Gloria’s place within a twinkle of an eye. He was smiling broadly as he approached Gloria inside the house. “Good evening.. sorry, good morning.” He held on to her hand. “Welcome. Good morning, Dave.” “I got your call, but it seemed I didn’t hear you well, that’s why I have come. Gloria, do you really mean this?” Gloria smiled faintly. “Yeah.” “Just go and dress up.. we’ve got to go out and catch some fun.” He said, very excited. “Where do we go now?” Just then, her phone beeped. As she reached for it, it was Tonia who called to break to her- the good news. “What! Which hospital?” She quickly enquired. David was already scared as he heard the name of the hospital. “I am coming over now!” “What’s happening, Gloria?” He quickly asked. “I finally found the best place for us to go.” “Where?” David asked. “Hospital.” She rushed in to change her clothing. “Hospital?” ** ** ** Dave and Gloria walked into the hospital slowly as they requested to see Nora who just delivered. The nurse described the way to the ward for them and they walked on. They entered and saw the reality itself. “Wow!” Gloria exclaimed. “I am really wowed!” “Gloria.” Nora called out, grinning. “Congratulations!” She moved closer and gave her a hug. Daniel was happy to see her around again. She also did come to check on him when he was still on the sick bed. “Thanks, Gloria.” “Congratulations, Daniel.” She stretched forth her hand for a handshake. “At least, there is brotherly and sisterly hug..” He chuckled as he drew her closer and just hugged her. “Thanks so much for your help towards my family. My God will bless you!” He said. “You’re welcome, Daniel.” “Gloria! Mr. David, welcome.” Tonia greeted. “Ooh.. Mr Dave, thanks for coming around. Sorry I hugged Gloria, that was just a brotherly hug.” They all laughed. “Wow..
