Eps 2. I was in my room laying down hopelesly.when my old c2 nokia phone ring.i looked at the screen and found out that it was unknown number calling.i hesitate for a while before i finally picked the call. ME.hello please.who is this?. CALLER. Hello sir.please am i up to chidubem john?. ME:Yes.please who is this?. ME:alright.you are speaking with mr Ade from MK DONIX.company. Immediately i head the name.i stood up from my laying position.to hear the caller very well.coz i sumitted my CV with them.for a very long time. ME:okay sir.go ahead. MR ADE:you are called to come for an interview on thursday morning.come along with you cridentials while coming.the interview will start by 10am thursday morning.good bye.(he hung the call). I wasn't happy nor sad with the news.coz that wasn't my first time of sitting for an interview. I washed and starched the only new shirt i have.i iron it very well both the black trouser that only new trouser left for me.i clean and polish my old black shoe.and kept them. I arranged my cridentials in my file and kept them at my reading table inside my room. THURSDAY finally came as expected.i woke up very early.i took my bath and ate the left over pourage yam in the house.i dress up with my well iron shirt and trouser. check the time and it was 7am already.i took my cridentials and left the house.to avoid traffic wahala. The journey from my house to MK DONX.is two hours and thirty minutes.is a little bit far.finally.by 9.30am i was standing face to face with one of the biggest company in town.MK DONX.i went inside the company and saw multitude of people who came for the same interview.neat young guys/girls some with classic cars who came for the same interview.my dressing was nothing compare with ones i saw.mine was like a rag to there own dressing.i automatically counted myself out to get the job.i was dejected and ashamed of what i wore.God.if you help me to get this job.i will forever be grateful to you.infact i will divide my first salary into two and give you one.please i have suffered alot.help me.i prayed to myself. One hour later.the interview.kicked off.some minutes later.i was called to go and face my faith. I went in and the person that was handling the interview.ordered me to sit down.i sat.then he start. MD.your name is chidubem john. right. ME:yes sir.(i handed my photor copy credentials to him). MD.why do you need this job.and how will you make an impact to the developement and glory of this company.if you are employe?. ME:sir.first of all.i need the job for financial reasons.and as a young man i am. i promise to put in all my best by working harder.to help the company grow further.i won't let the company down.if am employe. MD.alright.you have spoken well.come back on monday for your result.luckly if you pass you will start work the following day.okay. ME:okay sir.thank you sir. I stood up and left the premecise. I boarded a bike home. with the only dirty two hundred naira left with me.hoping that monday should come ASAP.coz i know that i will surely get the job. I got home and met my mother at the sitting room. ME:good afternoon.mum. She kept silent and hissed loud.i didn't care for her behaviour coz it wasn't her first time of doing that.so am use to it.i made to go when she called me back. MOTHER.dube or whatever yo call yourself. were are you coming from?. ME:i went for an interview mother. MOTHER.always going for an interview.those ones you have gone before.what did you get from it?. ME:mother.don't say that.this one is going to be difference.am very sure that i will get this job. MOTHER.that is your own business.who finish that pourage yam that i kept at the pot last night?. ME:it's me. MOTHER.who told you to eat it.didn't you eat your own last night?eeh tell me.so it has gotten to this.to be entering my kitchen any time you like.without my..(i cut her in. ME:mother.please.why don't you allow me to have peace of mind in this house.am i the only person that don't have a job in this town?just because of ordinary pourage yam.you are insulting me.i don't like it at all.instead of you to pray and encourage me.to get a good job and take care of you.rather you are pushing me aside MOTHER:so you have grown up enough to exchange words with me right?you dare open this your smelly mouth to talk back at me.shameless child.i regretted giving birth to you.look at what your mates are doing for there mother.buying wrappers.jewelries and even cars.for there mother.and you are here eaten my left over food everyday.are you not ashame of yourself?answer me. ME:see mother.i don't have your time.but i promise you.i will suprise you one day in a big way.mark my word.i pray you shall leave and see my success. Eps 3. FAST FORWARD TO MONDAY.i woke up early in the morning.say some little prayers.i took my bath.brushed my teeth.no food to take.coz i don't want my mother's wahala. I zoomed off to MK DONX hopefuly to start work.coz i strongly believe that i will pass the interview.i got to the company and met the same people i saw the othe day. Some were coming out smiling while some kept a straight face which shows that they didn't qualify. It finally got to my turn.i got in and sat down as the MD commanded. MD.you are erm.chidubem john?. ME:yes sir.(i said smiling). MD.we have concluded the interviews.and the results. ME:okay sir.when am i going to start. MD.we are sorry.mr chidubem.you are not amoung the people that we selected for the job.you are not qualified for the job.we are sorry once again. ME:(hot tears from no were started dropping from my eyes.the MD saw it but didn't say any word.i became frustrated.i nearly gave up at that moment.coz that job was my hope.i wanted to shame my so called mother that i can make it in life.but look at me now.hopeless and confused ME:thank you sir. I said to him and left his office.i stood at the road looking left and right.were am i going to go from here.i decided to visit my uncle.who is very rich and working at one of the biggest company in town.although i knew my uncle is very stingy but i kept the feeling aside.let me go and see whether he will help me with work or money.atleast if he help me with money.i will use it to start a better business.i concluded. On my way.i started feeling hungry.i brought out my wallet and open it.chai!i only have 150 naira with me.i took the hundred naira and bought a galla and one sachet of water.total of sixty naira.i gave them the hundred naira.i decided to put the wallet back inside my pocket.i looked up and i didn't see the galla seller again.he ran away with my fourty naira balance.i search and looked for him.i didn't see anything that looks like him.then i gave up and continue my journey to my uncle's house.God go judge that guy wey carry my fourty naira change run.*i curse under my breath*i ate the galla like a hungry lion.till i consumed all of them. 30 minutes later.i got to my uncle's duplex.i knocked and his gate man open the gate for me.not without some questions. I went inside his house and found out that my uncle wasn't around.his wife asked me to wait for him that he will soon be back.she asked me whether i have eaten anything.i sincerely answered her NO.minutes later.she brought some food for me.rice and some chicken.before i could spell my mother's name.i have consumed the food and chilled it down with some cold juice.wow!life is good if you have money.i forgot my sorrow instantly.look at how my uncle's wife is shining because of money.my uncle's wife wey no fine before.now look at what money has done to her.she is now looking fine.i must make money o.whether good or bad.she saw me staring at her. and she smiled and said. U.WIFE.why are you staring at me.do you like me?. ME:(look at this woman) noo.i wasn't looking at you. U.WIFE.is a lie.i saw you looking at me.what were you thinking?. ME:alright i agreed.am sorry.i wasn't thinking anything. U.WIFE.hmm.hope is not what a thinking.let my husband not catch you looking at me that way you did.other wise..hmm.(she said smiling). ME:okay.i have heard you. My uncle finally came back.i agreeted him.he shook me and ordered me to sit down.her wife was busy staring at me.(i wonder what she was thinking). UNCLE.dube.this one you came to my house today.hope all is well. ME:not really sir. I narrated the reason i came to him.after my long speech.i beg him to help me with job or money.(of course he is very rich.he has his own company). UNCLE.dube.i have heard you.i wish i can help you.in my company there is no vacancy again.every were is filled with workers.you can't work in my company.you are not qualified to work there. My uncle knows that i came out in the university with first class.(no be moi moi na)he still insist that am not qualified to do the job.his wife begged him on my behalf.but all her pleading didn't move my uncle. He only offered me a job to be his wife driver.that he will be paying me twelve(12)thousand naira every month.i wanted to reject the offer but his wife begged me to accept the job.i looked at myself.a graduate like me.doing a house driving.i got no choice.my mother is always on my neck.i just want to leave the house for her.i know that i need a job.but not as cheap as this one.well half bread is better than non.i finally accept the job.my uncle's wife was very happy. i can see it on her face.i don't know what is making her happy.only time will tell. Today is monday.They asked me to resume work on thursday.i will be leaving with them. UNCLE.you will resume work on thursday.but for now.take this for yourself.(he handed me a naira note). Guess how much my rich uncle gave me?just five hundred naira note.was all my uncle could offer me.WHAT A LIFE. TBC.

Eps 4. I resume work as a driver to my uncle's wife.for the first week of my job.thing were moving well with me.i was getting some tips from my uncle's wife mrs ada. I was paid my first salary by my uncle's wife.instead of 12 thousand i and her husband agreed.she paid me 20 thousand.i asked her why she paid me such money instead of what we agreed.she said. ADA.you don't deserve 12 thousand naira work.you are more than that.please don't tell my husband about this okay.beside.i like you.you are a nice guy.havn't seen you complain before.you are handsome and you deserve more ME.okay.thank you maa. ADA.you have a girlfriend right?. ME.hmmm.not really.we broke up. ADA.what happened.why the broke up. ME.is a long story.please. ADA.personal?. ME.yea.personal. ADA.okay!if you don't wanna share with me.fine. The following mouth.she increase my salary from 20k to 25k.i was very happy withing me.finally i have gotten a job.atleast i have something to show at home. My happiness was cut short on one faithful night.i was in my room which my uncle gave to me at his house.when i heard a gun shot.i peep through the window and i saw the shocked of my life.five armed men with guns bang inside the compound.they were all with mask.they shot the gate man at his shoulder.and bang inside the main house were my uncle and his wife were leaving.they robbed my uncle's wife and rape Ada.including the house maid was rape too.i wanted to call the police but i got no light on my phone then.an hour later.the arm men left taking some of the expensive property of my uncle. The following day mrs Ada was taking to the hospital.my uncle accused me of what i didn't do.he said i was the one that arrange the armed robbers that robbed him.infact i was amoung the robbers.he called me names and threaten to call the police for me if i didn't leave his house.he took the car key away from me.and said i'm sack.he pushed me away from his house.and warn me never to come back to his house again if i love my life.i quietly pack my bag and left his house.now my suffering continue again.from grace to grass.from hero to zero.i started my life all over again.atleast i have 60k on my account.it will serve me for some weeks.i consoled myself. On my way.i visited mrs Ada at the hospital.she was suprise to see me with my bag. ADA.thanks for coming dube. ME.am very sorry for everything that happend to you. ADA.you don't have to be sorry dube.the damage has been done.i will be fine.but were are you going with you bag. ME.am going home.i have been sack by my uncle. ADA.why what happen.why did he sacked you.what did you do?. ME.he said i was the one that arranged the robbers that came to the house yesterday.i tried to explain to him that i wasn't the one.but he never listen to me.instead he threaten to call the police if i don't leave the house for him. She tried calling me back.but i had already left.on my way.i saw a post.which says sales boy needed apply withing.i didn't pay much attention to the post.but i decided to give it a text.i went inside the restaurant and narrated to them the reason i came.i told the owner that i am interested for the job.he gave me a foam to feel.which include my name and other stuffs.she gave me the rules and regulation i should follow.which i oblige.and also my monthly salary will be 12k the same with the previous one.and finally.i was asked to start work the following day.chai!look at me.a graduate doing a sales boy.i couldn't hold the tears again.it flows freely from my eyes.did i offend any one that made me not to get a better job.is this a curse?i look at the restaurant for the last time and zoomed back home.i must make it one day.i said to myself. I went home.not happy nor sad.the feeling was just there.i need a girlfriend.but who will date a guy that don't have a better job like me.a sales boy.noo noo.when the right time comes.i will get a nice girl.as usuall i avoided my mother. The next day came.i woke up very early coz the work starts by 8.30am.i woke up around 7am and dress up.before 8am i have left the house for my new job.sales boy. TBC.

On my way going.she ran to me.and promise to visit me. CHARITY.baby i know that u didn't take the money.you are innocent.but just believe that God will surely see us through.i will forever love you my prince. ONE WEEK LATER.we were still at the hotel.everything thing was going well between charity and i.no news yet about Jc and the his gang.and i never told charity about her sister.each day.we did nothing than to bath.eat.sleep.gist and some times sex.we did that day by day to the extend i got tired of staying indoor.but i have no choice.coz my life isn't save yet.as far as Jc and his gang were still alive. although charity never complain.but for how long will we continue to stay indoor.i paid the hotel management for only two weeks.with only money that i had. and we have stayed one week and three days.that means we only have four days left.and the worst part was i don't have much cash to renew our payment.after this four days.what are we gonna do.they are gonna ask us to leave if we didn't pay again.were are we gonna go from here.are we going to return home? No now.that would be a suicide mission.we can't go back for now.but the question is.where will we go from here.how long are we gonna continue to hide from those people? I have no relative around this town.what about my family?i havn't heard from them for all this while.hope they are safe o.i hope Jc havn't carried out his plain on them.as he had threatened earlier. Around 11am the same day.i wanted to browse with my phone but i found out that i got no air time.i decided to go out. and purchase two hundred naira air time.on my way out from the hotel.i saw a black jeep that park withing the environment.i wanted to go but something drew back to look at the jeep very well.i obey and stared inside the jeep.the glass was down.so i was able to see inside the car. I looked and saw three men in black.also each of them wore a black google glass.they weren't smiling at all..there faces looks familiar.i wanted to move closer to check who they are. but i declined and continue my journey.i spent like thirty minutes outside.coz i also went to the nearby cyber cafe.to browse and check my mail. Through out my stay at the cyber.my mind wasn't at rest.i don't know why.i wasn't comfortable with those men that i saw in the jeep.i decided to call charity.to know how she was doing.but she wasn't picking her call.i called her again and again.still no answer.i became worried and decided to go back to the hotel and see her. Some minutes later....i got to the hotel premises. i couldn't found the jeep any more.including the men.maybe they have gone.i said to myself.who knows what they were looking for. I went inside our room.and called charity.charity.but i got no response from her.i called again.the same.where is this girl na?i asked myself. I moved to the bathroom.and searched for her.still i didn't even see her shadow not to talk of her real self.i was worried.scared and confused at the same time.i hope nothing bad had happened to my charity o.i said almost in tears.i even checked on her inside the wardrop.under the bed and inside the fridge.i scattered every were.still no sign of charity.i called her all the pet names that i use to call her.chai! Charity refused to answer me.which left me more scared.chaaaaaaaaarity.i shouted her name.but nothing came up.tears had started dropping from my eyes already. That was when it occured in my mind that they might have attacked and took charity away.the time i went to purchase the air time.but who must be that na.those men that i saw at the car.yes it might be them.i said it that there faces looks familiar to me.but i was so foolish not to suspect them or come back.even though that i came back.i would have been the victim.maybe they searched for me and they didn't get me.and they decided to take charity.but how did they know this address.i couldn't get an answer. JC at work.oh God why me.i cried bitterly.to the level that i couldn't cry again.i consoled myself.i stood up and went to the hotel receptionist to ask them.what happened the time i went out. We were still runing.seyi was behinde us..folake was breathing with her whole strenght.her speed reduced but i held her tight.unfortunately she hit her leg on a stone and fell down.which made me and seyi to stop. What happened?seyi asked.i looked down at her leg and saw that she was seriously wonded.she groan in pain.tears was already dropping from her eyes. ME.folake.please lets go.we have no time.those guys are coming after us. SEYI. ma'am we have no time here.they will soon meet us.and you know what that means to us. FOLAKE:*in tears*i can't continue again.my leg is seriously hurting me.i can't stand up nor run again. I looked up and saw that Jc them.were seriously getting closer to us. Immediately.i dropped folake from my shoulder and rushed to seyi were she layed lifeless in her pool of blood.i held her to myself with tears dropping from my eyes.she held my very tight staring at me.she open her mouth to speak.but no word came out.she was also finding it difficult to breath..folake managed to stand on her feet.and came closer to us.i looked at seyi.her blood has stain the boxer that i wore..JC them was seriously approaching us.infact they were just some kilometer away from us.. ME:*panting*i'm sorry seyi.please don't die.you will make it.don't give. She weakly looked at me and said. Eps 24. I went home from the hospital that faithfull morning.earlier they ha sent seyi's body to the mortuary.my ambitious was to give her a befitting burial.no matter what is gonna course me. I got home and i was giving a warm welcome by everyone expecially my mama. The following week.seyi was buried at her home town.with the help of my parent.we were able to give her a befitting burial.we paid tribute to her.charity cried and cried to her satisfaction.before i was able to comfort her.i felt and understand her pain.it always feel bad to loss someone so dearly to u.even though you try to forget about the person.the memory will keep flowing in you.that was the case of charity.one week after seyi's burial.she wasn't still herself.which affected her health and the pregnancy. TWO WEEKS LATER.i was at home doing one thing or the other.when a rover and a jeep drove inside the compound.i started wondering who might be that.that owns such an expensive car.the cars drove to one corner of the compound and killed the car engine..baby are you expecting any body?.charity asked me. ME: no dear.i don't know who they are o.well lets wait and see what they want. Some seconds later.the door of the jeep open and a man in his late 40s came down.followed by a lady that dress like a model.she looks beautiful and rich.infact if u look at her.you will know that she was surrended by money.i stood up from were i sat and went closer.behold it was folake.immediately she saw me.she rushed and hugged me passionately.i held her to myself not minding the presents of the man she came with.who looks like her husband.the man was rich.no dout. We hugged ourselves for more than two minutes.before we finally disengaged ourselves.she stared at me and said. FOLAKE: i know u must be angry at me for not informing u before leaving the hospital.i'm sorry for that.it was an emergency.so i was tranfered to a better hospital.i didn't have the opportunity to tell u.so that was why i left without informing u.hope am forgiving.(smiling). ME: sure.you are forgiving.thank God that you are okay now.good to see u again.but how did u get my address?. FOLAKE: don't worry about that.all i know is that i'm very happy to see you too.thank you for saving me. ME:(feeling high) you are welcome ma. FOLAKE: dubem.please meet my husband.ADE. We gisted for some minutes before he and folake left.not without dropping sum cash for me.after they left.i counted the cash and it was.150k.what!!i was very happy.atleast i will use it and solve somethings.(i said to myself) FAST FORWARD TO MONDAY.i woke up early.took my bath and left for mr Ade's office.with the help of the address.i was able to locate the venue.when i got there.he was happy to see me.we exchange pleasantries.and i settled down.we talked on many things.and finally.finally and finally.he offered me a job.he gave me one of his big companies to be managing.with a heavy salary.that i didn't expect i was rich withing four months in the job.i got my own house.car and other things that can make life better.i was happy.my family were happy.and lastly my dear charity was very happy for me. I married charity officially as my wife.that day was my happiest day in my entire life.upon her pregnancy.we still went for our honey moon. Six months later.charity gave birth to a bouncing baby girl.wow!she was as beautiful as her mum. What name are we going to give to her?charity asked. Without wasting much time.i said.SEYI. Immediately i mention the name.charity started sheading tears.i told her not to worry.that everything gonna be fine.finally.we name our baby SEYI.as her official name.together we all leave happily.
