Lately, MultiChoice has been at the center of a serious controversy threatening their business here in Nigeria. The South African company who own both DSTV and GOtv pay-tv networks have been told to shut down operations in Nigeria by June 2019.

You must wondering why this is happening, right?

This order is coming from directly from the Federal Government of Nigeria who have notified the management of MultiChoice DSTV/GOTV that their operations, in Nigeria, will come to an end in 2019.

This is due to the fact that the operational license of MultiChoice will expire by June 2019.

A letter from the Nigerian Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation(NBC) indicates that the license issued to them in 2014 by NBC will not be renewed because it was not in line with Digital Switch Over (DSO) White Paper.

If MultiChoice does not find a way to fix this issue with the Nigerian government, this will definitely crumble their business as Nigeria is one of the biggest markets got their business.

So users do not need to panic, they will always find a way to settle the issue and keep on operating in Nigeria.
