50 of his most memorable Liverpool moments as he reaches the half-century

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp today turns 50.
And to celebrate him reaching his half-century we have decided to pick out 50 of his most memorable moments as Liverpool manager.
The German will be enjoying his time off before returning to Melwood next month as Liverpool prepare for another season and Champions League football.
There will still be many memorable moments in years to come, but for now, all the best.
1. [u]His arrival[/u]
Liverpool fans were delighted that Jurgen Klopp was about to be named as manager and on the day of his arrival there was a buzz in the city.
The scenes outside Hope Street hotel on the day were amazing as people were waiting to catch a glimpse of the German.
2. [u]"Turning doubters into believers"[/u]
It didn't take long for Klopp to have Liverpool fans in the palm of his hand.
His first interview with club was remembered by four simple words.
3. [u]The first thing he did was go for a pint[/u]
He did deserve a pint .
4. [u]His first game[/u]
Tottenham away was his first game in charge of Liverpool.
The game showed what Liverpool fans could look forward to seeing from the players under Klopp's regime.
Despite the game ending in a 0-0 draw, the away end was united and singing from the same hymn sheet.
5. [u]The first win[/u]
Klopp's first win as Liverpool manager came against Bournemouth in the Capital One Cup.
A goal from Nathaniel Clyne was enough to see Liverpool into the quarter-final of the competition.
His first league win wasn't too far away...
6. [u]Chelsea away[/u]
In fact, it was just three days later.
His side came from a goal behind to beat Chelsea 3-1 at Stamford Bridge.
Two goals from Phillipe Coutinho and a goal from Christian Benteke meant that Klopp had his first three points as Liverpool manager.
The away fans were jubilant when the full-time whistle blew.
7. [u]Ibe-y[/u]
A single goal from Jordon Ibe helped Liverpool beat Rubin Kazan as they battled the get out of the group stages of the Europa League.
A trip to Russia is never easy and Klopp enjoyed the victory a lot.
He even became an internet sensation after his hug with the goalscorer was picked up by the cameras.
8. [u]Crystal Palace walkout[/u]
By the 82nd minute there were thousands of empty seats.
Crystal Palace, for a second consecutive season, had come to Anfield and done a number on Liverpool.
It was the first defeat Klopp suffered as Liverpool manager.
The fans weren't happy and left well before the final whistle, which made Klopp really angry.
After the game, he said: “The goal came after 82 minutes. Twelve minutes to go (eight plus stoppage time), and I saw many people leaving the stadium. I turn around and saw them go.
"I felt pretty alone at this moment!
“We decide when it's over. Between 82 and 94 minutes, you can make eight goals if you want! But you have to work for it.
“The big decisions are made in moments when you are tired and under stress, and we have to learn that.
“It feels so bad because it was absolutely not necessary. We have to feel this, keep this, and know why we don't want to feel this again.”
9. [u]Battering Manchester City[/u]
The victory against Chelsea was memorable, but this was the first time that you got to see what Liverpool under Klopp would be like.
Manchester City were the favourites for the title, but there was a strange swagger about Liverpool going into this game.
Nobody would have predicted the outcome to be so crazy.
Goals from Coutinho, Roberto Firmino, Martin Skrtel and an Eliaquim Mangala own-goal helped the Reds beat Manchester City 4-1.
10. [u]6-1 against Southampton[/u]
A Divock Origi hat-trick helped Liverpool to another League Cup quarter-final.
Alberto Moreno, Daniel Sturridge and Jordon Ibe also found themselves on the scoresheet as Liverpool steamrollered past Southampton.
11. [u]West Brom "celebration"[/u]
A 2-2 draw at home to West Brom is a poor result, but how this happened led to Anfield being the loudest it had been during Klopp's reign so far.
An injury time equaliser from Divock Origi led to Klopp marching all of his players to the Kop at full-time.
12. [u]Watford disaster before Christmas[/u]
Some people say that this was the worst performance under Klopp so far and you can see why.
A 3-0 defeat to Watford was a bit of a reality check of the job that the German had on his hands.
Adam Bogdan was in goal and the result left a sour taste just days before Christmas.
13. [u]The kids are alright (Exeter away)[/u]
It took a replay for Liverpool to see off Exeter in the FA Cup, but it allowed Klopp to see what his youngsters were made of.
Some of them proved that they could have a future at Anfield and others have already moved on.
It gave Klopp more of an idea of what he was dealing with.
14. [u]Joe Allen[/u]
Joe Allen's performances under the German had fans believing he had a future at Anfield.
His form continued in Euro 2016, but he was sold to Stoke City in the summer.
15. [u]His glasses coming off at Norwich[/u]
The celebrations from the Liverpool dugout when Adam Lallana scored an injury winner against Norwich City were certainly memorable.
After Sebastian Bassong equalised in the 90th minute, the majority of people accepted that the result would end up as a 4-4 draw.
Lallana had different ideas and Klopp lost his glasses.
16. [u]Joel Matip[/u]
Jurgen Klopp signed Joel Matip on a free and it has proved to be an excellent bit of business.
He impressed during his first season in the Premier League - despite a number of injuries throughout the campaign.
17. [u]A stroll at Villa Park[/u]
Liverpool travelled to Villa Park looking to add to Aston Villa's miserable season - and they did just that.
The Reds came away with a 6-0 win, but it could have been a lot more

Jurgen Klopp had led Liverpool to a cup final at the first time of asking.
And after the empathic victory at the Etihad, the fans were confident.
Manchester City had different ideas.

Just days after the League Cup final defeat Liverpool welcomed Manchester City to Anfield.
The Reds were comfortable 3-0 winners and the boss had just one word to describe the performance........... [color =red]BOOM[/color]
20. [u]Manchester United in Europe[/u]
Manchester United have never beaten Liverpool in European competitions.
Anfield was rocking and goals from Daniel Sturridge and Roberto Firmino put one foot in the Europa League quarter-final.
21. [u]The Second leg[/u]
A 1-1 draw at Old Trafford has probably never been celebrated as much.
Liverpool had knocked their rivals out of Europe and the 3,200 Liverpool fans made sure they knew about it.

He just gets us, doesn't he?
23. [u]Borussia Dortmund[/u]
It was always going to happen and it was a magnificent occasion.
One of Anfield's great European nights.

On Liverpool’s victory over Borussia Dortmund in the Europa League...
“We had a good plan in the first half but conceded two goals, so you can throw your plan in the purple bin.”
25. [u]Laughing at Lucas in the Merseyside Derby[/u]
If you're 4-0 up in a Merseyside Derby and a tired Lucas has a shot from 30-yards what do you expect the German to do?
26. [u]Villarreal conquered[/u]
His reaction to James Milner's tackle at 3-0 said it all.
He celebrated it like a goal and the Main Stand joined him.
Liverpool were in another European final.
27. [u]Europa League final[/u]
The defeat to Sevilla in the Europa League final left supporters angered and frustrated by what they had witnessed.
Fans were calling for a clearout.
Reports suggest that Klopp got his side together in the hotel and galvanised the squad.
Though the defeat was painful, it could build the squad's character in the long-term.

People questioned the price tag, but they certainly aren't now.
29. [u]Seeing the return of local pre-season fixtures[/u]
It gave fans the opportunity for fans to visit local grounds that they wouldn't normally.
Fleetwood Town and Huddersfield Town were new grounds for many.

Sakho was clearly not in Klopp's plans and was sent to play with the under 21s.
In January he moved to Crystal Palace on loan and is expected to leave permanently this summer.

Yes, it was a pre-season friendly.
But beating Barcelona 4-0 at Wembley is something to get excited about.

An opening day classic.
Sadio Mane was on Klopp's shoulders, there were amazing scenes in the away end.
Premier League football was back with a bang.

They felt the force of Anfield and the new Main Stand as Liverpool won 4-1.
35. [u]Friday night fun in the capital[/u]
It was another win for Liverpool at Stamford Bridge under Klopp and it was the night when other teams looked at Liverpool as a threat.
Dejan Lovren and Jordan Henderson scored as Liverpool beat Chelsea 2-1 on a Friday night.
It's safe to say the fans down in the capital enjoyed their evening.
36. [u]Dropping Simon Mignolet[/u]
Loris Karius returned from injury and replaced Simon Mignolet at the first opportunity.
It seemed clear who the German wanted as his number one.

Yeah, it is boss.
38. [u]Bournemouth defeat[/u]
Liverpool were flying and fans were dreaming of a title challenge, but the capitulation at Bournemouth was a huge blow for Klopp and his side.
Loris Karius fumbled a shot which led to the defeat and people called for the return of Simon Mignolet.
39. [u]Recalling Simon Mignolet[/u]
Another mistake by Karius against West Ham forced Klopp's hands.
He brought the Belgian back into the side ahead of the Merseyside Derby.
It proved to be the correct call as he had a good season.
40. [u]Oh Mane, Mane![/u]
It was Liverpool's first Goodison Park derby win since 2011 and there is probably no better way of doing it.
A Sadio Mane injury time winner.
41. [u]A 'Gini'us way to end 2016[/u]
At the time it looked like a win that could be significant in a title challenge, but it turned out not to be.
However, it was a big three points at the end of the season to reach the top four.
Gini Wijnaldum, who was signed by Klopp, was becoming a Kop favourite.

Liverpool's title dreams ended in January and the season was close to completely derailing, but Klopp eventually steadied the ship.

Two quick goals from Sadio Mane was enough to get the better of Tottenham at Anfield.
It felt like a huge victory in the race for a top-four finish.

Liverpool completed the double over Arsenal last season and it proved to be a huge victory in helping the Reds finish in the Champions League places.
Anfield was loud and Arsene Wenger's side couldn't get near Liverpool.
It was also a killer blow for Arsenal in their top four chase.

Three in a row for Jurgen Klopp.

1-0 down and struggling away to Stoke City.
At half-time, Klopp brought on Coutinho and Firmino.
They both scored as Liverpool secured a huge three points in their quest for Champions League football.
47. [u]Cruising to a top four finish[/u]
The victory at the London Stadium against West Ham all but confirmed Liverpool would be returning to Europe's top table.
A 4-0 win meant Liverpool were in the driving seat going into the final day of the season.
A home game against Middlesbrough was always going to be a banker, wasn't it?

Wijnaldum settled the nerves just before half-time and then it was comfortable.
A top four finish was secured.
49. [u]Already thinking about the Champions League[/u]
Jurgen Klopp revealed after the final day that most of the work is “pretty much done” as Liverpool seek to bolster their squad for a crack at next season's Champions League.
And the Reds boss has offered the tantalising prospect the club are significantly down the line towards making signings once the transfer window opens.
