An Abakiliki businessman, Ekene
Uzoigwe, has been ditched on what was would have his wedding day by his bride-to-be whose education he sponsors.

The runaway bride, Ifunanya Igwebuike, a final student of
Federal Polytechnic, Oko in Anambra State, called off the wedding with her long-time
lover without prior warning.
Student Pulse gathered from a PM News report » that her excuse for dumping the businessman is that she cannot marry a man who is not a
graduate.

Narrating his sad story, he said Ifunanya had agreed to marry
him if only he sponsors her education which he faithfully did.
They were to get married in her final year as agreed and both their families concluded the wedding arrangements without any hitches.
Unfortunately, she developed cold feet and refused to show up at the wedding.

The groom and his guests were left waiting for hours at at St Patrick Catholic Church, Umuchu in Aguata Local government, Anambra State.

Ifunaya later sent a message to the Parish Priest Rev. Father
Lawrence Maduagwu that the wedding should be called off.
What makes matters worse for Uzoigwe is that she only changed her mind after he had
paid her bride price and gave her parents N160,000 to prepare for the wedding.

He had also incurred other expenses towards the occasion.
“If she had informed me, I would not have made arrangements.
We had already cooked food and
bought drinks for the wedding,” the distraught groom said.

Uzoigwe said he had no quarrel with his lover before the
wedding day,
He however said the girl's parents have promised to return
the money he gave them to prepare for the wedding. [hupso]
