Happy Never After - Episode 1

“And we are done! So, stand up and check yourself in the mirror!”

Alicia inhaled at Faith’s voice and stood up as someone removed the blindfold from her eyes. It was the first time she would be seeing her wedding gown and most especially, she was wearing it. Daniel had ordered it from Dubai and now that she could see herself in the mirror, she was glad that her friends had hidden it from her until today.

It had an off-shoulder strap which matched her brown skin. The bodice and straps were covered in a detailed pattern which filtered down the train and sides of the dress

. The cream gown had a train which was about six feet long, flowing elegantly behind her as she walked.

She gasped as she saw herself in the mirror. Her tummy melted into a stream of happiness and excitement. She felt like someone in a dreamland. This couldn’t be true. She could see her friends behind her, holding on to each other as they blinked back their tears.

“This must have cost a fortune,” said Tonia behind her. She was a fair lady, in a pink flowing bridal gown. Her Peruvian hair was reaching almost her waist. Out of their group, she was the ‘flashy’ one. Nail so long and perfectly manicured.
The silver rings on each of her hear lobe could fit into the neck of an infant.

“Well, thank God our husband is a billionaire,” replied Faith, also in a bridal but simple gown. She was on a low cut with tiny silver earrings on her ear lobes. “Please, someone should bring the veil.”

“Incoming!” shouted Lydia, Alicia's only sister. They looked like age mates and they had the same set of friends. She was the chief bride's maid and was instead in a yellow strapless gown which clung delightfully to her hips before stretching out to the floor.

They practically acted like twins, but Alicia was twenty-nine, two years older than the darker Lydia.

She fixed the cathedral veil to the back of Alicia's hair so that it sat on top of the train and floated in the air at the slightest movement.

“And here is your bouquet,” said Camil, the most responsible of them all, also dressed in a pink gown.

Alicia collected the bouquet as her friends rallied around her.

“This is the moment we have all been preparing for, and it has come,” started Camil. “Our very own Alicia is going to be a Madam.”

“Tonight is gonna be a badass!” shouted Tonia and the rest chuckled.

“Daniel is such a lucky guy,” replied Camil.

“Oh, I think she is the lucky woman,” said Lydia and Alicia frowned at her.

“What?” asked Lydia. “That guy can practically buy a princess if he wants to but he chose my Alicia,” she said in a tiny voice before kissing Alicia on the cheek.

“Hold on guys. Alicia is not talking, let her talk,” said Faith, smiling at her best friend who was still fighting the tears.

Alicia forced a smile and sat on the bed. “Oh! Guys, what do I say? I am so emotional right now,” she started.

“Really? You better keep your emotions till the midnight, then you can start giving off those awesome ringtones we’ve been practicing all week…” Tonia stated, sticking out her tongue until Camil hit her with her pouch.

Alicia inhaled and was about to open her mouth but her phone vibrated, distracting everyone in the room.

Faith was the closest to it and she picked it up from the stool, she showed everyone the name on the screen and Tonia hissed while Lydia sighed. Alicia and Camil gave no reaction.

“Why is he calling? Today of all days?” asked Tonia.

“I thought you said you changed your number, Alicia,” said Lydia.

“Well, I forgot to.

Read " Bleeding Petals " by the same author ( Tobi Loba )

. I wanted to but I wasn’t expecting Fabian to keep calling me. He knows I’m getting married, doesn’t he, Faith?”

Faith looked at her friends. “Why are you all looking at me as if I asked him to call?”

“He is your friend!” snapped Tonia.

“Oh! Hello! He is my friend now? What happened to the last one year? Or last eight months? Was he not all our friends?” asked Faith.

No one replied but finally, Alicia spoke.

“Today is my wedding day and the last thing I need is my ex, stalking me. I do not want to see him or talk to him. He is no longer part of my life and that is it.”

The phone rang again but this time, it was the priest.

“Girls, we got to go, everyone is waiting for us,” replied Lydia and they all stood up. As they rushed out, Faith remembered something and went back inside. She looked into the mirror and was adjusting her strap but then the phone in her hand rang again, she inhaled as she saw Fabian’s name.

“I will join you soon, got to use the toilet,” she shouted as loud as she could and quickly rushed to the bathroom of the hotel room and locked the door behind her. She picked the call.

“Hello, Fabian, what are you doing? Why are you calling her? You know she doesn’t want to see you. You are still in prison aren’t you?”

“Faith..Fai…can..hear…?”

“Hello, Fabian, the network is bad, stop calling. I can barely hear you!”

“Faith..Licia…wedding…stop it…stop..stop it!”

Faith ended the call as the bathroom door opened all of a sudden.
What the hell are you doing back here?” Tonia demanded, looking at her suspiciously.

“Am I not allowed to ease myself again?” Faith replied before flushing the toilet and tearing off some toilet-roll.

Together, she and Tonia left the room but her mind wasn’t settled. Why would Fabian who has been in prison for about six months be calling her to stop the wedding of her best friend?

Happy Never After - Episode 2 See all episodes here » THE NOVEL IS A WORK IN PROGRESS AND IT IS MY FIRST DRAFT SO PLEASE, EXPECT MISTAKES LOL... The whole congregation stood up as the bride approached. Faith, Tonia, and Camil led the way while Lydia helped with the train. Alicia sighed as she spotted her handsome prince at the end of the aisle, dressed in a white and pink Tux. Behind him was his closest and only friend, Drax who had flown him from South Africa the other night. She inhaled and followed her friends, her eyes steadily fixed on Daniel who was smiling at her . He looked really handsome in his suit. His dark hair was curly, and a silver stud shone on his left ear lobe each time he moved. “Ladies and gentlemen, we are gathered here…” the priest started as Daniel took her hand 5 YEARS AGO The four ladies were busy playing volleyball when Alicia hit the ball so hard that it flew across the field and hit the window of a car that was packed some feet away from them. “Oh, my god! What did you do!” cried Tonia. Alicia shrugged. “It’s Fabian’s car and I did that on purpose. He’s been following me around again.” “You shouldn’t have hit his car, Alicia,” said Faith. “It is not a crime for a guy to be helplessly in love with you!” she said before running towards the Benz car. A man in a white and blue jean stepped out of it to observe the damage. “Hey, Fabian, sorry about your car,” said Faith, walking behind him. The guy turned around, he was a fair man wearing a pair of silver spectacles. His nose was pointy and long, with a dimple on each side of his cheek. He looked like someone around twenty-six years of age, holding a stethoscope. “It’s okay, Faith, I guess that is the price I pay for hanging around to talk to your friend,” he replied with a smile. Faith sighed as she realized that the damage was not so much. The ball had only cracked the window a bit. “Why do you keep doing this? Why can’t you just come and talk to her?” Faith asked. “No. I can’t. I told you. I am shy when it comes to asking a woman out. I will end up doing stupid things.” Faith sighed and smiled. “You need help, Fabian, Alicia won’t like you if you keep acting like a child.” He chuckled and handed Faith the volleyball. “Someday, she will,” he replied and handed Faith the ball again. BACK TO THE CHURCH Faith watched the priest read from the book in his hand. She was standing in between Camil and Tonia who kept sobbing and sniffing. “They are so beautiful, together,” sobbed Tonia. “You really need to stop doing that,” Camil said Tonia, handing her a paper towel. “I can’t. Read " The Curse Of Cain " by the same author ( Tobi Loba ) . I am so emotional.” Faith rolled her eyes but paid attention as the couple exchanged their vows. “Is there anyone who doesn’t want this two to become one? They should speak now or forever remain quiet.” Everyone looked around as they would on a normal day, looking out for who would dare come out to put a stop to the wedding of the year. “Very well,” said the priest and was about to continue when the phone in Faith’s hand rang. She looked up sharply and realized all eyes were directed at her. “Oh, sorry, just my phone. Continue,” she shouted while switching off the phone. The people relaxed as the priest continued. “What the hell was that?” snapped Camil at her. “I don’t know,” she said, checking the phone. “It’s not my phone, it’s the brides,” Faith replied as she has been holding Alicia’s phone. “I’m sorry,” she whispered to both her friends who were sending daggers at her with her looks. “Now, you may kiss the bride,” the priest announced and everyone clapped and cheered as the new couple kissed. Faith and the rest of the girls waved at the black Chevrolet that took both couples away for their honeymoon. “I still don’t understand why they have to travel that far for their honeymoon,” said Camil as they later turned back towards the reception. “I guess they just need a private time alone,” replied Tonia. “Besides, it is just for a couple of weeks. She will come back home soon.” Faith waited behind as her friends walked back into the hall. She brought out her number and dialed the number she had written on her palm. The phone rang for a while but then a lady picked it. “Hello, this is Holloway Hospital, how may I help you?” asked the lady. Faith frowned. “Hospital? Sorry. Please, a man which goes by the name Fabian called using this line, please can I talk to him?” The Lady hesitated for a while. “Fabian? Oh, sorry please, Fabian died some hours ago.”

Happy Never After - Episode 3 See all episodes here » The lake house was just as she had expected. It was a white painted house decorated with beautiful white lights all over the fence. Alicia had seen the picture days ago but now, she was glad to finally be seeing it. “It is really beautiful,” she said to her husband who was driving. “Wait till you get inside,” he whispered to her with a slight chuckle. He drove into the compound which opened immediately as they approached the gate. When he was finally out of the car, she caught her breath at the splendor of the house. The compound was very large with fashionable shades of white walls surrounding the landscape . The walls were so high that the most curious passer-by would not be able to see through. Flanked on each side of the wall were beautiful flowers and ornamentals and imprinted on the walls were beautiful artistic designs. “This is so beautiful, Daniel,” she whispered. “And it is perfect for just the two of us,” he replied as they finally get in. He opened the door with a bunch of keys and led her straight in. Even though Alicia didn’t particularly know the sort of business her husband was into, except that he was a businessman, she couldn’t help but wonder how he actually made from the business. But just as he had said, she would know everything in due time. The business was after all, business. “Oh! Daniel! This is going to be the best honeymoon ever!” she said, kissing him on the lips while he laughed. “Well, Mrs. Daniel Johnson, would you like to go the bedroom?” “Yes, very much Mr. Johnson.” ** It wasn’t their first intimate time together but it felt as if it was the first time. He touched and kissed her at the right places and the sparks were there, just as it had been there at the first time. Finally, he rolled off of her and excused himself to use the bathroom. While she lay on the bed, feeling quite satisfied and happy on her wedding night. She decided to go through her phone, to read the countless messages people must have left for her. There were several tagged pictures of her on Facebook as well as several messages, congratulating her. She knew she couldn’t go through all of them that very night. She would have to do that the next day and other days. For now, she needed to enjoy herself and her newly wedded husband. While she waited for him on the bed, her mind drifted back to how everything had started. ** “You know you can’t keep punishing Fabian for having an interest in you and being shy to talk about it,” said Faith to her, one night as they prepared to sleep. Faith was her closest friend who had stayed with her family since they finished High School together. “I do not even know what you see in him, Faith, if you like Fabian so much, why you don’t go out with him?” she asked, going through her Facebook request on her phone. “I am not interested in him, Alicia. You had an accident and he did everything to help you get back on your feet…” “Because he is a doctor,” added Alicia, sounding a bit angry. “He got paid for it, didn’t he? Why are you making it a big deal?” “Because it is. He did more than took care of you, he made sure you got the best care and look at you. Now that you are out and well, he just wants to have some time to get to know you. I see the way he looks at you anytime I accompany you to have your regular checkup. Read " Finding Solace " by the same author ( Tobi Loba ) . This guy is helplessly in love with you, why won’t you consider him?” “He is really not my type,” replied Alicia. “He doesn’t fit into the list of men that I would like to have a relationship with and please, tell him to stop sending me a friend request on Facebook, I am not interested in being friends with him.” “That ridiculous list have a list of ridiculous items. You are judging him by that?” Faith asked in horror. “Yes, I am. I do have specific things I want from a man, okay? And FYI, I am not a small child; whoever I agree to have a relationship with must be ready to take me to the altar.” Faith sighed. “You can at least try to get to know him first. You may never know if he possesses any of those qualities in your damned list. You don’t even have a boyfriend, so what is your excuse?” But I do have a boyfriend,” Alicia shouted. “You mean Daniel?” asked Faith with disdain. “Yes, who else?” “You guys only talk on the phone and you haven’t even made a video call. It’s been weeks, wake up Alicia. This guy is not real.” “He is real to me, stop talking to me about Fabian, I am in love with someone else! I really would like to sleep now.” ** Alicia chuckled to herself as she remembered all that happened afterward which led to the present day, she had told the girls that Daniel was real and here he was. They had met a few months ago and everything had fallen into place. He was her soulmate. She stood up from the bed and walked to the table-mirror where she had her make-up bag. She removed the facial wipes from the pack and was cleaning her face when she spotted his white suit in the mirror, hanging at the opposite side of the wall. For a while, she thought she spotted something around collar, having a red stain…. “Do you miss me?” asked Daniel as he came out of the shower, wrapped in a clean towel with his entire six abs on display. “Yes, I was just about to come join you in the shower,” she replied, smiling. He chuckled and climbed on to her, kissing her as she tore the towel from his torso, She closed her eyes to feel lost in the ecstasy of passionate love-making which immediately replaced the memory of the stain she thought she had seen earlier..

Happy Never After - Episode 4 See all episodes here » Alicia opened her eyes and smiled as the memory of the other night floated through her mind. Everything she had heard about wedding nights was indeed true-it was truly special. She inhaled and rubbed the tip of her right finger around her fourth right finger to feel the diamond on her finger. She smiled satisfactorily before turning to her side only to realize he wasn’t by her side. She sighed. “Daniel?” she called out but there was no response. He wondered where he could have gone to . She rose to a sitting position while looking for her phone which she found tucked away under the pillow. A message came in from Daniel almost at once-“Hey babe. Didn’t want to wake you up cos I didn’t want to see the look on your face when I tell you that I have to leave, will be back tomorrow. I promise. Business issue came up and I had to see to it. I will be back before you know it. Do forgive me. I promise to make it up to you.” “Are you kidding? It is our honeymoon!” she said aloud to herself but he was no longer online as she could see. This was unbelievable. She sighed and hissed in disappointment. She would have to stay in this mansion lake house, alone. “Not cool, Daniel,” she muttered and stood up from the bed. ** Finding the kitchen was not so difficult; she made a cup of tea for herself before walking out of the house. She sat at the porch while taking her tea. She was really angry with everything, especially with Daniel who had to just leave. He was right, if he had woken her up to tell her he had to leave on business, she would have screamed. They had decided to come here just to be away from the world and now… She sighed. He was a rich man, he would be definitely busy. He had told her he was a busy man, right from time. Right from when they started…. FLASHBACK Alicia drove into the parking lot and checked her time, it was just minutes past seven. She looked around but couldn’t see any of her friends where they had asked her to come. She sighed and dialed Faith’s number for what could have been the hundredth time but it was still switched off. She climbed out of the car and walked towards the address she was given. It was a hotel quite alright but what was she doing there? She shook her head but proceeded nonetheless. When she got to the receptionist, she asked for the room number as she had been told. The lady attended to her politely and she took to the direction. She had had a long day and the only thing she needed right now as to go home and talk to Daniel before sleeping. Yet, Faith had told her this was urgent. When she got to room 4B, she inserted the key into the keyhole but it didn’t open. She frowned, the key had the number at the door. She was confused. She tried Faith’s number and then her other friends, switched off. While she kept on battling with the door, it sprang open immediately with a chorus of “Happy Birthday!” from everyone in the room. At first, she was so shocked she couldn’t breathe but then, her friends rallied around her and embraced her. “Sorry darling,” said Camil. “We scared you, didn’t we?” “I hate you all,” she replied as she walked in. The cake was in Lydia’s hands. There were some of her co-workers and even there was Fabian. What the hell was he doing there? “Happy birthday, Alicia,” Fabian said to her as he walked closer to her. “Thank you,” she said as dryly as she could before walking away from him. The party was not so much but it was all she needed to see how much her friends cared about her. They later made it a pool-side party and partied through the night. Some minutes later, Alicia pulled Faith to one side… “What is he doing here?” she asked, referring to Fabian. “You mean Fabian?” asked Faith. “Of course, who else?” “He organized this whole thing you know? Without him, we couldn’t have thrown this party.” Alicia’s heart sank as she heard this. “Why would you do such a thing? I am not interested in this guy, don’t you just get it?” “Just try to get to know him okay?” snapped Faith, drinking her wine just in time as Daniel’s whatsapp voice call came in. “Your ghost man is calling,” Faith said, walking away from her as she drank from her cup. “Hey babe,” Alicia said, talking to Daniel. “Hey love, what’s going on? That place seems noisy.” “My friends threw me a birthday party,” she replied, smiling and walking towards the other end of the poolside. “Aw! That is so sweet. How I wish I could be there,” he said. “I wish you are so not far away. If only I could at least see your face…” she said sadly. “I know love; the network here in Ivory Coast is terrible. Read " When A Woman Wants.. " by the same author ( Tobi Loba ) . I promise to do something about it, as a birthday gift. If I were to be in town, I would have ordered you a gift but I couldn’t.” “Well, we shall do all those when you are around. When I can finally hold you close to me and kiss you…” “Excuse me, Alicia,” said a voice behind her. Alicia turned to see Fabian while she was still on Daniel’s call. “Yes, Fabian, what is it?” she asked still holding the phone to her ear. “I just..i thought, we could talk,” he stuttered. “Sorry, I’m on a call, and you really shouldn’t have thrown this party…I do not know how much you are making, but do not waste it on a lady who is not going to be yours. I have a boyfriend,” she said and walked away… PRESENT DAY She checked the time and realized she had spent close to thirty minutes sitting outside. Her tea had run cold. She sighed and stood up but stopped as there was a ring at the gate. She frowned. They didn’t have a visitor. There were no houses around and no one knew where they were, not even her friends. It was a perfect getaway honeymoon. “Who is there?” she asked aloud but there was no response. She inhaled a deep breath as she walked towards the gate….

Happy Never After - Episode 5 See all episodes here » ** “Who is there?” she asked aloud but there was no response. She inhaled a deep breath as she walked towards the gate…. FLASHBACK “Hey babe, can you see me?” Alicia lifted up her phone to see Daniel but the only thing she saw was ‘Bad Network” written on the screen. “No, I can’t see you,” she replied. “Can you see me?’ “No babe, I cannot see you either . Guess the network is worse. I actually thought it would work. So sorry love.” She sighed as she walked towards her car. “It’s okay. I just need to be more patient,” she replied as she got in and closed the door. “I will call you in the night, love you.” “Love you too.” She locked her phone and threw it on the other couch. She couldn’t understand his area or the kind of network that was there at all. It took her about thirty minutes to get home from work. Her birthday was two days ago and Daniel had been trying everything to make the video call real, still nothing. She was horny as f**ck and badly needed to see him. She opened the door of her car and removed her shoes to walk bare-footed into the house. As she passed, she saw a blue van parked next to hers. She frowned, not sure who owned it. Still, she looked away as they had neighbors sharing the compound with them. By the time she climbed up to her apartment, she could hear noises. She opened the door and was surprised to see some men on the laptop, Lydia and Faith. “What the hell is going on right here?” she demanded, dropping her shoes. “Who are these guys?” Faith stood up and walked closer to her. “Babe, these are Joe and Peter.” “Hello,” said the one who was introduced as Joe. He was a fine looking bald man in a white shirt and blue Jean, the other guy had a large glasses on his face. They shook hands but Alicia was freaking out. “What are they doing here?” she demanded without sitting down. “We are from, “You have been Pranked” show,” replied Joe. “Your friends think a guy may be pulling a prank on you.” “What the hell!” shouted Alicia. “What are you talking about?” “These gentlemen here are professionals when it comes to finding out scammers online who make you fall in love with them without seeing them!” stated Faith. Alicia gasped. “You brought them to my house! Faith! Daniel is not a scammer!” “Then why haven’t you see his picture?” demanded Faith. “Why haven’t you guys had a video call?” “Because it is none of your damned business! Look, he is real, whether you like it or not! What the hell is your problem?” “We are sorry, but we think, this is the man that has been scamming you,” replied the other guy, turning the laptop around. Alicia could see a black dude with a cigar hanging in between his lips and in crazy jean trousers. She shut her eyes. “You guys are crazy. That is not, my Daniel,” she said. “I want you to leave my house, and never to come back again.” She hissed and walked out on them…. ** Even after they had left, she found it hard to sleep. Daniel was supposed to call her that night but he never did. That night, she had time to think about everything. How they had started. How he had meant to message someone but instead messaged her. They had started talking and then fallen in love. It was going to five months and it was everything she wanted. Now, they hadn’t seen, he couldn’t even send his pictures because he said it was a new phone and he didn’t have time to take pictures. She had sent about a dozen pictures to him and he loved everything. She didn’t care, she was willing to wait until he would eventually finish with his business and then he would come to Nigeria and sweep her off her feet. Maybe she was stupid, or perhaps, just so in love… When he finally called, it was almost morning… “Babe, I apologize, there was a fire and it affected my work. I’m so sorry…” “Oh my God! Are you okay?” “Yes, yes, I am. Sorry I stood you up.” “No problem. Glad you are okay.” “Have you taken your bath yet?” he asked. “Yes…” “What’s wrong babe, you sound cold…” She sighed as she adjusted on her bed. “When are you coming to Nigeria Daniel?” He sighed. “Babe, very soon. I swear. Read " Broken-Broken " by the same author ( Tobi Loba ) . In the next couple of months, I will be done and when I see you, I'm gonna ask you to marry me….” She shivered as she heard that. “Are you sure that when we see, we are still going to have this chemistry?” “Certainly. What we have is pure and natural…” She smiled. “I know.” “Now, I will call you later, have a great day darling.” PRESENT DAY Alicia walked to the gate and lifted the opening in the gate, where she could see who was standing outside. It was an older looking woman, she seemed disturbed. “Can I help you?” she asked and the woman looked up. She gasped on seeing her. “Oh my God, You are back! What are you doing here? I didn’t believe you would come back here…” Alicia was confused so she opened the gate to address the strange woman. “I’m sorry but you may have had the wrong address…” she said politely. The woman held her hand. “You shouldn’t have come back, Hannah. You need to leave…” “I am not Hannah!” shouted Alicia, yanking her hand away. “You made a mistake…” she said, locking the gate immediately. Just then, her phone vibrated and the message came in… “Hey babe, coming back soon, do not open the gate for anyone. Love you. D.” She sighed and checked the opening again, by the time she glanced out, the woman was gone.

Happy Never After - Episode 6 See all episodes here » She checked the time and realized it was almost evening. She had spent the entire day, doing nothing but watching a movie and getting bored. She opened her eyes, staring at the beautiful chandelier. She was still lying on the couch. She didn’t really enjoy her sleep as her mind kept circling around the stranger that had come earlier. It was really strange. She stood up and walked to the kitchen, she wondered when Daniel would be back . Realizing how hungry she was becoming, she decided to make some food. While she did this, her phone vibrated, she frowned as she saw Faith’s call. She could still remember everything that had happened at her wedding party and they haven’t talked about it. She picked the call. “You really had the motif of ruining my wedding didn’t you?” “What are you talking about? The wedding was a success, thanks to God.” “So, what about your friend? Has he stopped calling or he has finally accepted to let me be?” Alicia asked. There was a long pause. “Faith are you there?” “Fabian is dead, Alicia.” The knife in her hand dropped as Alicia heard this. “What did you just say?” “Oh, so you care about him all of a sudden?” She swallowed and picked up the knife. “I don’t but he called didn’t he? How could he have died like that?” “I do not know, that’s why I’m calling you. It is so strange. When are you coming back? I cannot go to his house alone.” “Why do I need to go with you?” Alicia asked, as she continued cutting the onion. Faith gasped. “You dated this guy for some time, Alicia, you should care about him, how can you talk like that?” “I didn’t want to date him in the first place, and whatever happened to him served him right. He ended up in prison where he should have been in the first place and now he’s dead. Good riddance!” she said and ended the call. As she slammed the phone on the table, she kept on doing what she was doing, Fabian’s face flashed through her mind and she cut herself by mistake. Taking a deep breath, she hurried to the tap to wash the blood away. As she stared at the stained water, memories began to unfold…. ** FLASHBACK Alicia sat on her bed, covered in a blanket and staring at her phone as if waiting for a message, or a call or anything. She was in her nightgown with no intention of leaving the house. Her eyes were puffy, she hadn’t been sleeping. A knock sounded on her door but she gave no response. Finally, the door opened and Lydia stepped in with Faith. They looked quite concerned about her. “Babe, are you not going to work?” asked Faith but Alicia said nothing. “Camil has been calling me, said you guys have a presentation today. She said you are not picking your call,” Lydia replied, handing her sister her own phone. “Have you gone nuts, Alicia?” screamed Camil’s voice from the phone. “You need to get your ass right here, the meeting is starting soon!” Alicia said nothing, collected the phone and ended the call. Both her friends stared at her, dumbfounded. “Is this about that prick of a guy, Daniel?” asked Faith in disgust. “He hasn’t called you since his secret was out about the Prank show has he?” “His secret was not out. We talked that night if you want to know,” said Alicia. “So, why has not called you in three days?” asked Faith, arms akimbo. “I think you need to accept the fact that he scammed you.” “Shut up! I do not need this, okay? I am sure he has a good reason for not calling, I just hope he is alright.” “Or maybe his wife found out and disconnected his social media account,” Faith retorted but Alicia stood up. “Leave my room right now!” Her friend shrugged and walked out of the room. Lydia stood up. “Well, I am still having issues getting a place for my internship.” “We will find a place for you, first, I need to get to dress up and get to work…” Bryn and Ben’s Hospital Alicia waited for Fabian with her sister, in his office. The presentation had turned out rather poorly and the project had been taken from Alicia’s team but given to another. She and Lydia had left the office to go for her appointment. Fabian was her doctor and she had an appointment with him, nothing more. Lydia shifted uncomfortably in her seat. “What is wrong with you?” asked Alicia, frowning at her sister. “Look, it will really make a lot of sense if I can have my internship programme here, Alicia. No other clinic will have me, let me talk to Fabian.” “No,” Alicia said sternly. “I won’t allow that, I do not want anything that will make me indebted to that man.” Lydia frowned. “Please, this is about my own future and I am running out of time, besides, it’s closer and…” “I am so sorry for keeping you waiting,” said Fabian as he entered. He was in his white jacket with some medical instruments in his hand. “Hello, Fabian,” greeted Lydia, all smiles. “Lydia, it’s been a while,” said Fabian. Alicia ignored them both as they hugged and exchanged pleasantries. All her friends liked Fabian except herself, she had no idea why they did. “Hi, Fabian,” she replied coldly. “I came back for my result.” “Oh, yes,” said Fabian, bringing out a letter from his drawer and handed to her. “Something happened that is causing you a lot of stress; you need to work around it. Your B.P shouldn’t be this high at this time. Could it be work?” Alicia said nothing. She waited as she went through the result. She couldn’t say anything. The truth was, for some days, actually for some weeks, she hadn’t heard from Daniel at all and he was supposed to be coming to Nigeria in few weeks’ time just as they had planned. Not hearing from him was messing up her day and everything, including her work. They were supposed to be planning his coming together and now…nothing. No word! “You do not need to worry about me,” she replied, standing up. “I need to. I am your doctor,” replied Fabian sternly. “Then, maybe I will find another doctor,” she replied angrily. He inhaled. “Well, you can do as you wish, Alicia but, I am concerned for you. You need to take care of yourself more. The next doctor will tell you a similar thing.” Alicia said nothing but left the office with the prescription he gave her. She was on her way to the pharmacy when she realized her sister didn’t follow her. She frowned and was about turning back when she saw her giggling excitedly, with Fabian. They were both coming to meet her. “Good news! Fabian had just accepted my internship here,” Lydia announced. Alicia couldn’t believe this. “I told you not to ask him, what is wrong with you?” she shouted at her sister. Lydia frowned. Read " Bleeding Petals " by the same author ( Tobi Loba ) . “Please, Alicia, this is about my education,” she wined but Alicia faced Fabian. “I am tired of your acting like a good person. I do not like you, I do not want you acting nice to my sister just because you want to get in between my legs!” Lydia flared up and came in between them. “Don’t shout at him okay? This is not about you. You may have a problem with him but I do not. If you are too blind to see that he is a good person, which is your problem! But I will not allow you to disrespect him because of Daniel!” After this, she faced Fabian. “Thanks Fabian, I will start work tomorrow…” After this, she walked out on her sister. Alicia blinked her tears of embarrassment that were coming up. “I hope you are happy, that you came in between me and my sister…” after this, she threw the prescription at him and walked out… PRESENT DAY The whistling sound of the kettle jerked her back to the reality and she stood up to make more tea for herself. As she turned off the gas, she sighed. She shouldn’t get herself worked up about the Fabian thing. But could he really be dead? Was it possible? She shook her head and advanced towards the chair she had been sitting on earlier. As she sat down, she realized she hadn’t washed the cup she had used in the morning. She decided to do that and began to wash the cup. She turned the bottom up to drain the water but stopped as her eyes caught the inscription at the bottom… She couldn’t see it clearly so she traced the lettering with her finger…. “With Love-H. Johnson.”

Happy Never After - Episode 7 See all episodes here » “Morning sunshine.” Alicia opened her eyes to see Daniel in the room, carrying his suitcase and looking very handsome in his tux. She smiled and straightened up. “Hi love, thought you would come back yesterday.” He dropped the bags and moved closer to kiss her on the lips. “Yes, my flight was delayed and I had to wait at the airport . Couldn’t wait to see you. She frowned. “We said no business, and now…” He kissed her more. “I know baby, forgive me. I promise to make it up to you,” he replied before starting to undress her…sticking his hands underneath her thighs… FLASHBACK She sat in the living room, gazing at the almost-empty bottle of wine in front of her. She was the only one in the house and this was because, she had recently lost her project work. Going to work would be baseless so she decided to stay at home. Her boss specifically told her not to come back until she was ready to fix things. Faith had travelled to her parent’s side. She needed to go see them. Her sister had started her internship work at Fabians and her other friends were at work. She sighed. Her life was boring without Daniel. She kept reading the last message he had sent to her several days back. “Baby, something is wrong with my account but I’m working on it. We have lots to talk about, things you should know about me. I have a mark around my neck, it’s hard to miss, done everything to erase it but its still there. Just want to tell you things ahead, so that when you see me, you will not be terrified and I swear, I am not a vampire, lol. I will call you in the night so we can make plans on how we will meet. I got the address of your workplace. Love you.” And that was all. She gulped down the remaining drink just as the bell rang. At first, she didn’t answer but it became persistent, so she stood up to get it. When she opened and found Fabian, she hissed. “What do you want?” she asked, belching and finding it hard to stand well-balanced. He looked at her with concern. “Oh, my God! Have you been drinking? This is not good for you, Alicia.” “Stop your annoying concern okay? What do you want?” “Well, your sister told me you two haven’t been talking and knowing I’m responsible for that, I thought of coming to see you.” “Well, you are not welcome,” she said, about to close the door but he stopped the door with his hands. “You will injure yourself if you keep drinking, Alicia. Whatever it is, you can talk to me.” “I do not want to talk to you, do you not under….” She stopped as she realized that everything was getting dizzy. The next thing she knew was that she was falling and starring into Fabian’s eyes. “Are you alright?” he asked, holding her in his arms. For the first time she could see how cute his eyes really were and oh, “are those pink lips?” she asked, reaching for his lips. “You are really cute, Fabian….” She said, before drifting into blackness. ** When she woke up, she felt her head banging and she was resting on the couch. She was surprised to see Fabian sitting close to her, his hand on her forehead. “Are you feeling okay now?” he asked. At first, she didn’t reply but then nodded. “How long was I out?” “Just two hours,” he replied. “You have been here for two hours?” she asked. “Yes, I couldn’t leave you alone,” he replied. The hatred and everything she used to feel for him seemed to melt away as he stood close to her. “Thank you, Fabian. I’m so sorry for being mean to you,” she said, looking away. “It’s okay. Whatever happened to you, you do not deserve it,” he said with a smile. “You think so?” she asked. “Yes. You deserve to be happy and to have whatever you want. You do not need anyone to dictate your happiness for you. You have everything to be happy.” That made her smile. “Why did I never like you?” He chuckled. “Maybe because I have never seen you drunk before…” They both laughed at this. She didn’t know what it was or whether it was because she had been horny for a long time and the way he kept stroking her head, she didn’t know what it was. The next thing she knew was, she was kissing him and he was kissing him back. The urgency was so much for her that she forgot about the headache and the fact that they were not even dating. All she wanted was to quench the thirst of her lustful desire. She had held it in for so long. She felt his tongue touch her lips for entrance an she willingly let him in. She felt hot all of a sudden and her heart began to race as she kissed him back. She wrapped her arms around his neck while he held her tightly by the waist. Then he pulled away all of a sudden. “Alicia,” he started, panting. “I do not want to take advantage of you,” he said. “Well, I would love to take advantage of you,” she said, pulling him closer. Shivers ran down her spine as his hands hand roamed her body. He was being gentle with her. She was excited, terrified and nervous at the same time. She wanted more of him. The thought of his muscled fingers running down her back made her shiver again. She didn’t know how, but she was on top of him, fully naked and when he entered her in a full thrust, she felt as if the entire burden in her life had just melted away….she was relieved, happy and free…. PRESENT DAY “What were you thinking about while I was making love to you,” came Daniel’s voice behind her. He pulled her closer to his naked body as they lay cuddled on the bed. “Nothing,” she lied. “If I do not know better, I would have said you were thinking of another man,” he chuckled, biting her ears. “Now, why would I do that when I have everything here,” she replied, kissing him. “No more leaving me, we are staying here together for a month, Daniel. I need to know everything about you.” “So, what were you doing while I was gone?” he asked. “Nothing, Oh, a woman came knocking earlier,” she said to him. He frowned. “Did you open the gate?” “Yes, it was a mistake, she thought I was someone else, she later left though.” “Did she ask you anything?” “No, just calling me Helen or Hannah or something…” He was quiet for a while. “So what happened?” “Told her she got the wrong person and she left.” He didn’t give any response. “Perhaps, she thought you were the lady that used to stay here before,” he said. “Thought the lake house was bought by you.” “Yes, but people used to stay here before I bought it.” She smiled and relaxed. “No wonder. Then that explains everything. I even saw an inscription at the bottom of a mug. H. Read " Fulfilling Wishes " by the same author ( Tobi Loba ) . Johnson. AT first I was confused.” “Johnson is a common name, maybe it was the surname of the lady that was here before…now, darling, I need to use the bathroom.” She shifted as he stood up and left before she finally relaxed. She had been worried sick about the whole thing but now, everything had just been settled. She closed her eyes but Fabian’s face flashed before her. She stood up. “Got to make more tea, love. I will be back soon.” Just as she was leaving, Daniel’s phone which was on the bed began to ring and she attempted to pick it… “No darling,” he said suddenly behind her, with a smile. She was shocked, she had thought he was in the bathroom. “I do not appreciate people picking my calls,” he said with the sweetest smile. She gave him the phone with a smile. “Sorry, I…” He silenced her with a kiss before going back to the bathroom with the phone to his ears… She sighed. That was weird, what was wrong with picking his calls and did he just refer to her as ‘people?’ She shrugged, she still had lots to learn about him. A message came on her phone and she checked it. It was Faith. “Babe, I went to the prison, Fabian’s body was not found. Something is so wrong!”
