JOSE MOURINHO accused Manchester United players of lacking ambition as they crashed to a shock defeat in their opening Europa League game here last night.

"I am very pragmatic in my approach.
I look to this game with proper eyes, I
changed eight players, but I played
with a good team, with enough good
players to win the match. "I think in first half we were not especially bad but we didn't have an ambitious attitude. We were not trying to win just content with controlling the game. "In the second half they answered my [half-time] words. It's more disappointing that in our best moment they scored. "Of course I'm unhappy, especially because I think we lost the game precisely in the moment we don't deserve to lose. We were double unlucky because it's a clear offside."

Despite two disappointing performances - this setback follows the 2-1 defeat against Manchester City on Saturday - Mourinho is refusing to press the panic button ahead of Sunday's trip to Watford. He said: "Of course I'm unhappy. When we won the community Shield and the first three Premier League I was not going over the moon and saying 'we're a phenomenal team and are going to destroy opponents.' "I know the situation - you can't just click your fingers and everyone is perfect. We didn't play phenomenal matches but two defeats is punishment for the team because we didn't deserve that." Feyenoord manager Giovanni Van Bronckhorst, the former Arsenal and Barcelona player, said: "They made a couple of changes by resting some players but it was still a very good team with a lot of quality. Our players stuck to the plan and to beat United is a bonus for us and a great start to the group."
