GOtv is one of the popular PayTV networks in Nigeria, owned by MultiChoice, a well known South African company. Launched a couple of years ago, GOtv decoder is found in almost every home in Nigeria. It offers a wide variety of Nigerian TV stations with a rich blend of foreign TV stations. There are channels specially created for different categories such as Movies, News, Sports, Entertainment and much more.

While a lot of people are enjoying their GOtv decoder, some others are having issues with their GOtv decoder working properly.

In this tutorial, I will give you solutions to certain problems or errors that show up on GOtv decoders. This list contains problems I have made research on, so it will be updated time to time with solutions to new problems.

For Nigerians, you can visit GOtv Page NG while Kenyans can visit GOtv Page Ke to know more about GOtv.

Usually, it is best you call in a technician to fix issues on your decoder but unfortunately at times, this technicians might not be available. So it’s up to you to find a way to fix the issue. On a side note, the technician might be charge you too much for just a slight issue that can be fixed in a jiffy. It is better you learn and understand how your decoder works so you can be able to fix similar GOtv problems in the future.

GOtv channels not complete?
First off, this is a common problem amongst GOtv subscribers.  Issues like Gotv channels not showing have become increasingly common this days. This usually occurs after subscribing to a new bouquet only to find out you have incomplete gotv channels or gotv is not showing some channels.  Here is solution that can fix the problem.

Try this;

Press Menu >>information Central >> OK >> info button (or i button) >> Press 7.

Automatically, the decoder will reboot and return to FTI page.

Now select

– Language (English)

– Country (Nigeria)

– Antenna Power (OFF).

The decoder will re-scan.

Alternatively, you can try this too;

Find your GOtv remote
Press MENU
Then ADVANCED OPTIONS
Then INSTALLATION
Then TUNING
Then AUTOMATIC SCAN.
Press OK button to select each stage. By default, you will get 27 channels for Gotv and 37 channels for Gotv-plus.
After scanning, look out for the “TV channels found” prompt. If the number of channels are complete (57), it means your scanning was successful. If not, you had to scan the decoder again.

As soon as you are done scanning, click on the “exit” button on your remote. Please note that you should never interrupt the scanning process either by switching OFF the decoder, or turning off your Generator or anything. Allow the scan to be completed. Only in power outage situations should be overlooked.

My GOtv channels is not clear?
You need to ensure that the GOtv antenna placed outside is turned towards the right direction pinging better signal. You can adjust this by twisting your pole from one side to the other until you have a clear channels.
