The bible did not condemn
gambling directly but it said alot
of things that makes gambling a
sin, am not conversant with
those bible verses but i know
some verses and what it says,
some of those verses are
Proverbs 13:11
Wealth gained hastily will
dwindle, but whoever gathers
little by little will increase it.
Hebrews 13:5
Keep your life free from love of
money, and be content with what
you have, for he has said, “I will
never leave you nor forsake you.”
Ecclesiastes 5:10
He who loves money will not be
satisfied with money, nor he who
loves wealth with his income;
this also is vanity.
1 Timothy 6:9
But those who desire to be rich
fall into temptation, into a
snare, into many senseless and
harmful desires that plunge
people into ruin and destruction.
Ephesians 4:28
Let the thief no longer steal,
but rather let him labor, doing
honest work with his own hands,
so that he may have something
to share with anyone in need.
Proverbs 28:22
A stingy man hastens after
wealth and does not know that
poverty will come upon him.
I wouldn't get married to one,
wether part time or full time,
and I'm sure most people wont
either.
Bad influence:
It expose you to bad and
irresponsible people who have no
future prospects other than
gambling untill they suddenly
become millionaires, they'll keep
advising you not to quit gambling
that Tommorow will be your turn
and you keep going deeper until
you become addicted
Its hard to raise a family with
gambling:
Most people who are gamblers
have dysfunctional families,
instability, poor standard of
living, little or no financial
progress etc, ladies never get
married to a gambler.
Addiction:
this is somehow similar to drug
addiction, in the sense that
whenever its time to gamble and
you don't have the resources to
gamble, you'd become restless,
you start visualizing the best
outcome if you take a risk and
gamble, then you'd borrow or
sell whatever you have just to
gamble, thier clothes, mobile
phone, cars, heck they can even
sell thier wife. when you loose
you start reflecting that you've
been foolish all the while and if
you win you will use it to gamble
again and the bookies will collect
it back.
its a waste of productive time:
The dedication gamblers put into
what they do is worthy of
applause, they scrutinize check
and double check and put all
time and effort in it only to
loose woefully like they didn't
put any effort into it, they end
up in disbelief only to bounce
back afterwards and resume
thier gambling.
Society frowns at it:
gambling is not a job, only those
who own the bookies make the
profit, and they make it off you
the gamblers, like the name
implies its gambling, you invest in
it but you're not certain if you
will have returns or not, its
shady, i personally see full time
gamblers as unserious. Its a
shady business so invest in
something you can get sure
profits from.
It instills the spirit of greed
in people: greed is the
mechanism the bookies employ
to make sure gamblers keep
loosing and only few get away
with thier money the rest loose
because of greed, those who
play sports betting can relate to
this, they introduced the odds
system, the easy outcomes has
little odds which brings little
returns, but since the greed is
there you will choose more of it
to accumulate odds or choose a
dangerous outcome with little
chance of winning and play in
faith, and 90% loose because of
such cunning machinations.
It draws you away from God:
the only thing on your mind will
be the thoughts of how awesome
your life will be when you win
because you have faith that one
day you'll hit it big so you keep
playing until you hit bankruptcy,
believe me if you put all that
faith in God he will reach out,
his ways are surer than bet9ja.
It makes people to sink into
debt or go bankrupt:
If you have a business no matter
how its progressing don't go into
gambling because that would be
the death of your business,
imagine you keep taking from
something without replacement
everytime, eventually it dries up
because its a sure thing the
ratio of loss is higher than gains
in every instance.
It leads to depression and
emotional anxiety:
this is common among those who
is still awaiting the outcome of
thier bet and those who keep
loosing untill they felt like
they're the mayors of
looserville, then you hear the
later saying the bookies are
using juju and the former
praying God make my ticket nor
cut.
My advice to gamblers and
intending gamblers:
Its for the rich and
emotionally strong people:
Am not judging, but dont go into
gambling if you're clingy and
emotional, its for those who can
afford to loose, you see all the
people in casinos gambling?
Gambling is a fun thing to them,
They can afford to loose
because they're already rich,
they stake what they can afford
to loose without batting an
eyelid, but you that intend to
become rich from it ends up
staking what you should have
saved and when you loose you
become suicidal and emotional.
Don't make it your profession:
do something with your life that
is guaranteed to bring returns,
dont base your life on heresay
of people who won and think
that is also your fate, we have
different stories to tell and no
two people will tell exact stories
in life.
Don't go into gambling at all:
to avoid addiction, if you're in,
its hard to get out, especially
students its dangerous because
one day you might use your
school fees without considering
how you got it and how
important it is.
