There is a thin line between life and death; an incident could happen between the twinkle of an eye and make a healthy person become lifeless. In view of this, there are basic remedies everyone is expected to have in his or her home. Many people in this part of the world would not store basic drugs in their houses until they are sick. As a matter of fact, the few ones that have the drugs at home probably did not finish their doses the last time they were sick. People often wait for things to go bad before they get the basic remedies that should be in the house.Find below some of the remedies every home is expected to have:(1.) ASPIRIN:notavailable This is a popular drug sold in most pharmacies. It is a salicylate drugs which is used as an analgesic; it reduces pain and give one a sense of relief without losing consciousness. Every home is expected to have this drug as it could be used for first aid.
Having this drug in the house could help savage a health situation as it tackles minor aches and pains. Fever could also be suppressed with it in cases where one does not have access to immediate health care. (2.)ALOE-VERA PLANT: notavailable Everyone should try as much as possible to have this planted around their houses or have it readily available. The benefit of this thorny plant can never be overestimated, from its application for the treatment of facial spots and pimples to its health use, aloe-vera will remain useful for as long as possible.
This plant could be used as first aid treatment in cases of burns and scalds. The gel from the plant could be applied on burns and scalds in cases where you poured hot water on yourself. The healing effect of this plant would make the burns heal well and leave as little marks as possible.

(3.) BAKING POWDER: notavailable Now do not go on frowning and wondering what this would do for you if there is an emergency when you do not bake cakes. Baking powder is gotten from sodium bicarbonate and of course it has many uses. But having this in the house means you could use it for ulcer patients who are experiencing pains. It interacts with acids by neutralizing it. An ulcer patient would be relieved after taking one or two teaspoons with water. It could also be used to relief pains from bug bites and scorpions till you are able to get to the nearest hospital. (4.) ACTIVATED CHARCOAL: notavailable This powder in addition to being water and air purifier has medicinal values. It has been in existence for a long time and has been widely used as a detoxifier and poison antidote. We know palm oil could also be used in cases where poison is being taken but having activated charcoal in the house would help save the day. As an antidote, it absorbs most organic toxins, chemicals and poisons before they get the chance to harm the body. Some Emergency Rooms administer large doses of activated charcoal for certain types of poisoning. In 1831, Professor Touery drank a lethal dose of strychnine in front of his distinguished colleagues at the French Academy of Medicine and he survived. He had combined the deadly poison with activated charcoal. (5.) ORT SACHETS notavailable People often die from diarrhea as a result of the excess water they pass out along with the electrolytes they lose in the process. Salt and sugar could be used too but getting the ratio right may be quite a challenge. ORT sachets are readily available in pharmacies around. SOURCE:naij.com
