2017.
After my stupid epic dream,, I have been thinking how my life will be in university,,,, I waited,waited,waited with insatiable anticipation for the resumption day which was week after even though I wasn't given my course,, I was given agric economics.. Me that want to do Medicine and surgery.. You know Nigeria university now,, destiny changer..
"fada lawd I don't want to farm in the nearest future" I murmured in repetition as the hot water from the shower ran through my body in the bathroom while I rubbed my whole body with soap to my new scar found on my left shoulder part given to me by mum during my cousin's skirt case..."this my armpit should be called gutter dungeon" I said in my mind,, no matter how I washed it,, it will still smell..chaii...
I stepped into my room after the bath,glanced at my already parked luggage placed beside my bag,, I'll be going to school today,lecture is starting nextweek,,I quickly clad in my shinning vintage shirt and a blue jean..i wore my sneakers,carried my traveling bag,my back pack then exited my room to our medium size sitting room..mum and my adopted cousin already there watching their useless show on the medium plasma TV hung on the wall with picture of my late father hung at the top... I sat down beside mum while she feign ignorance frowning...
"mum am ready now" I said jokingly tapping her
"can't you wait till tomorrow?,,didn't I told you about that bad dream am having about you?" she said pitifully..
"mum it's just a dream nothing will happen to me,you know if I don't go-to school today,,that cheap hotel goes to someone else" I lied...
She shrugged and started her advice which lasted for almost 30minutes..she gave me some money and promised to send the rest to my account..i rushed out of the house as its getting late already... Fortunately I was able to flag down a cab and we quickly headed bustop... I was fortunate one more time when I realise it only remain one passenger at the front seat to leave... A girl,,I mean a lost angel was already there sitting like how angels sits beside God in dear heaven..i was just staring at her extreme beauty while she was engrossed in the phone she was pressing...its iPhone though
"Oga enter na" the already high conductor almost shouted after solving my luggages problem which brought my life back from the realm of fantasy... I quickly entered and sat beside the girl,i mean angel that doesn't even noticed someone entered... Chaii.. "you must be mad" I said in my mind na...
"we are leaving" the driver shouted and ignited the car which took few seconds before the engine later started...chaii... In no time we are on the road while I was stylishly glancing at the Demi-angel...
"men and women of God in the bus....." a woman voice came from the back,,, chaii.. 30minutes later,,the woman was still preaching... "Come on we are not in church na"..i nearly said as I removed my earplug from my neck and plug it in... I was very carried away with the song I was hearing when somebody tapped me.. I deliberately ignored as I have this feelinga it was the girl...
"oga pay joor,, pesin dey tap you,,you dey form boss.. Mcheew" the conductor who was sitting behind my seat fired,,the woman was still preaching though...
"oh,am sorry" I begged then paid him...
I was about plugging in my earplug "uncle" I heard... Lo and behold it was the angel girl...see voice.. I mean hear voice... Chaii
"aunty" I replied while she smiled...
"actually am Angela not aunty" she replied...
"ofcourse I know.. Angel,,Angela.. Are you probably from Los Angeles?" I said
"what?" she asked confusingly
"Los Angeles..as in lost angeli in Yoruba na" I replied while she bursted to loud laughter that made the frowned driver glanced...it doesn't make sense..i know,,don't blame me.. Am good in spiting rubbish...
"funny you uncle" she said still laughing..
"am actually Jason not uncle" I replied mimicking her...
"hmm.. Okay can we share the earpiece,,I left mine at my sisters place" she begged rolling her eyeballs..
"oh no problem" I replied and quickly gave her the left ear while I took the right..
"thanks" she replied winking...
It was my heart beating sound that I was hearing not the song she was playing as she already collected my phone.. Infinix na.. Minutes passed... We were still hearing the song, oh I mean she was still hearing the song(i was hearing my heartbeat) when I was suddenly feeling dizzy...my eyes were force closing not to my willing.. To my surprise Angela was far asleep as most passengers in the bus.. The rest were smiling..i knew something was fishy,, the driver smirked smiling at me devilishly...
"na only you get craze for head abi?" he said while the non-sleeping passengers bursted to laughter..i was confused joined with the problem of not able to move any part of my body., I really don't know what's happening to me...i tried to say something but nothing came out of my mouth... After relentlessly trying not to fall asleep..i finally did when it can no longer be put on hold anymore and yes I sense danger..
The loud scream I heard made me jumped up from where I was laid helplessly..
"you are awake?" said a beautiful girl with extremely familiar face who rushed to hold me as I stood staring at the hell am in... I was in a very big cage with a strange Rhianna-like girl wearing an orange stained designer gown and there were many more kind of the same cage in the extremely big room with no window,, the light came from a white big bulb at the middle top of the gargantuan room... The cages contain 2-4 different people each..the room was no silent as people kept wailing.. Oh the loud scream came from a girl who was just been stabbed and moved outside through a metal door guarded by a giant man.. Then I realise I was been kidnapped..no I mean I am dead.. I stared sheepishly as fear already occupied my whole body realising the hell I was in...chaii.. Am dead... Momma warned me.. I should have just listen...
"Are you okay?" the girl asked worriedly shaking me...
"n..oo...not at all" I stammered still lost..."where are we" I asked stupidly as if she was also not kidnapped..
"I don't know but I think we were kidnapped and will be killed soon" she said as tears trickled down her face.....i rested my back on the cage and slowly slided down to Sandy floor dawned with different thoughts while the girl sat beside me...
"you know, I should be in school by now but all because I wanted to know how other people feel traveling in a commercial bus, I was kidnapped, it's not fair, tell them it's my first time" she said then bursted to tears while I was staring at the floor regretting my life...
"the truth is momma has been having weird dreams about me and warned me not to travel today but I didn't listen" I replied lifting my head up and we stared at each other in tears..yes..yes.. She looked completely like the Ann in my dream even same hairstyle.. Chaii.. Angela beauty is nothing compared with the girl...
"is your name by any chance Ann?" I asked wiping my tears..in this situation??..chaii.. My life... ."noo.. Am jane" she replied sniffing as she was slowly crying..
"you?" she asked still sniffing..."Jason" I replied as I have already accepted my fate...
"it's time you stop crying,,won't do you any good anyways,,atleast I'll die after meeting an angel,,Just remember me in heaven" I said smiling while she stared at me for few seconds and bursted to laughter..."funny you, you better pray before you die,, you will just go to hell" she said amidst laughter.."I trust you" I replied immediately while we both bursted to another round of laughter and was surprised when other people were staring at us somehow.. They had this "don't worry you will die soon" look...
Everything was getting boring,,the room was silent for the first time.. Jane rested her head on my shoulder while I was yawning sticking my back to the cage..from the look of things night has came.."I am sleepy" Jane said in a low voice.. "same here jane" I replied...she suddenly held my hand placing her head properly on my shoulder,yes shocking me.. It's useless.. We will die soon anyway..
A Big Bang probably on our cage woke us up..ofcourse I wasn't happy to see the driver that brought me here holding a cutlass-like knife with bunch of keys not without his devilish smile..
"wake wake,,good morning brick headed and goodbye also,, you are next" he said pointing at me with his black teeth.. "See teeth sef.. May Amadioha ginger your life,, fool" all in my mind...
I stood from where I was sitting trying to remove my hand from Jane grasp.."no you can't go" she said allowing her tears to fall freely standing with me.."wooah.. See lovebirds" the black teethed driver said laughing...
"what choice do I have" I replied Jane while staring at each other sadly..."just take us both" she said referring to the driver yet, surprising me again.. "no ma'am,,it's one person per cage" he replied mimicking her.....idiots still have protocol..
"get out while am been nice" he said with a smirk.. He was about opening cage "stop" said a familiar voice... I was more than surprised to see Angela appear at the scene... So she was one of them.. Chaii.. "He was just brought here yesterday, the selection process is old to New" she continued..."who are you to tell me that bitch" he said angrily..."should I report that to the boss?" she replied him smiling... He angrily punch the cage..went to another cage,picked out an old man,shot him instantly then dragged him out while I watched in fear...
"why did you help me" I asked Angela confusingly.. "paying back for the earpiece" she replied showing me my 1k earpiece..chaii...you will run mad... "and as you can see am from Los Angeles" she added laughing..."but why are you doing this" I asked again while she turned back as she was about leaving before...
"you think I chose this myself?,,am also a prisoner like you,,you think it's easy to be separated from your family more than a year,that is my last gift for you and am not sorry" she said whispering to me with angry face..she left immediately before I could utter another thing...
"who is she?" Jane asked while I explained everything to her...many hours later... Jane and I sat on the same spot while she was resting her head on my shoulder,,Hunger was about to kill us.. The room was very silent as about five peoples already been killed before us..the low clanging sound I heard made me look up to see Angela trying to open the cage motioning to me to shut up...
She successfully opened the door and came to us as we were staring at her very confused..."what are you doing here" I whispered..."to get us out" she replied.."now let's go before the rest returns"she whispered again and we crawled outside through the dark area trying not to let other people see us... Getting us out of the room was quite easy.. "how about that giant guard" I asked her.. "I have taken care of him"she replied while my heart was pounding really hard...
We made it to a secret tunnel evading few guards thanks to Angela...we were able to navigate the tunnel with Angela's torchlight..that girl ehn!!..."future Mila jovovitch" I said in my mind...it was later left of us to climb up a ladder and escape.."who goes there" said a strange deep voice..."go,go,go..." Angela shouted while I helped Jane in climbing and I followed her.."what about you" I asked looking down as I was climbing.."just go" she shouted..
We made it out of underground killing dungeon to a jungle.. We don't even know where to go..we ran to a guessed direction hearing a gunshot... We ran for almost half an hour still in the jungle and sat on the root of a big tree thinking we have lost them...the long distance noise made us realise we were wrong.. we stood up to continue the jungle run but something sharp suddenly attacked my leg... It was a cobra snake I was stepping on all dis while..the stupid thing ran away after biting my leg...
"are you alright?" Jane asked helping me to sit again... The noise was getting nearer so I just remove my shirt and tied it to my leg to stop the venom from spreading...jane helped me in walking and fortunately we made it out of the jungle.. The atmosphere was slowly getting dark and the night was getting closer..we waited for a vehicle to pass the very silent street.. We flagged the first vehicle we saw but the driver instead increase the speed...I was suddenly feeling dizzy till I finally fell and could hear Jane shouting my name.. "don't die you fool" was all I could hear before everything went blank...
The machine beeping sound I was hearing from afar kept getting louder until I finally wake up to see Jane sitting beside me holding my hand with a sad face..."jane" I weakly said..."Jason,, you are awake" she shouted and hugged me... Someone that cleared throat made us disengaged..i could see a pot bellied dark in complexion man which Jane later introduced as her dad....
"you have been out for 3hrs,thanks to some woman,this would have gotten worse"she narrated... what about the kidnappers" I asked Jane.. "they fled" she replied sadly.. "and Angela?" I asked... "she was found dead" she replied facing down.. Damn..she died saving us..."the venom was neutralised before it could affect your leg, you are very lucky..you will be discharged immediately" the doctor said..
Jane said we were found in ondo.. Whereas I was kidnapped at portharcourt...chaiii... I called my mother that night and assured her I'll be back the nextday even though she asked up-to 5billion questions...jane's father who turned out to be a senator drove us to his house in ondo..
I was in my given room sitting on the bed reminiscing about everything when knocks landed on the door.. "enter" I said and Jane walked in wearing a big shirt barely covering her thigh revealing her legs... I mean her fresh legs... Chaii.. She slowly closed the door with a finger in her mouth and winked at me while I was just staring...
I was just staring...
I said I was just staring what are you still reading..you want to stare with me? ??
