10 Foods To Help Break Your Fast During Ramadan

Ramadan is here again, it the time when Muslims all around the world set aside to fast, pray
and maintain a holy life. During these periods, observers abstain from food within specific hours
of the day (between sunrise and sunset) between 5am in the
morning till around 7pm in the evening. It would be good
practice while fasting, to keep both the mind and the body in top condition.
During fasting the body usually undergoes several metabolic and
biological changes which requires some precautions taken
before breaking a fast. Here are some of the precautions. First of all avoid taking heavy foods or large quantities of food so as not to over work the digestive system, also avoid cold water or drinks during this period.

Here are some suggested foods/ fruits to take during the Ramadan fasting

Water
Water is essential during fasting to prevent dehydration, it also helps flush the system, keep the
body stabilized and effective during this period. Taking lots of
water helps keep the body regulate its temperature.

Oranges
Oranges are one of the most popular known fruits, as it is rich in vitamins and contains lots of
minerals for good health. They are known for their
concentration of vitamin C which
helps in body building and fighting against infections which the body might be prone to during fasting.

Apples
Apples are one of the healthiest fruits and are rich in vitamins
and minerals. Apples help regulate and stimulate blood sugar in the body.

Beans
Beans are high in protein, fat free and contain more fiber than most other foods. The amount of
protein in beans helps to build up lost tissue, something that could arise during fasting.

Watermelon
When breaking your fast, the first fruit that should come to your
mind is watermelon, it is not acidic, while being very rich in
water content. It is also an energy giving fruit. Watermelons
have high water content which helps rehydrate the body quickly.

Sweet Potatoes
Sweet potatoes are soft root crops rich in Vitamin A and also
very easy to digest unlike other root vegetables.

Yoghurt
Yoghurt is rich in potassium, calcium, protein and B vitamins, including B-12. Yoghurt has
strong medicinal properties which includes ability to
stimulate the immune system and kill bad bacteria which is a
good thing when taken during fasting.

Milk
Milk is rich in Calcium which helps in building strong, healthy bones and teeth. It also helps in
building and repairing of body tissue, which is highly required
during fasting.

Vegetables
Vegetables are one of the best sources of vitamins and minerals.
They are medicinal in nature they help in repair and building body tissues which might have been
lost during fasting.

Banana
Bananas are rich in vitamins, soft and easily digested by the
system. It also lowers blood pressure, and in turn helps improving the health of your
heart.
